MikeI Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Just a poll asking "knowing that the Lexus 2005 has a known transmission (computer chip) problem dating back to the 2002 model year, would you buy a 2005 ES330? Why? BTY my sister owns a 2004 RX330 and that has the same exact problem!
jweiss Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I lust after the RX330 and even more so, the RXH400. However, it's difficult to respnd to the survey because I don't know if it happens on the Canadian models. Previously, I had posted a question about why none of the problems with trannies doesn't seem to occur with Canadian members of our group. Somebody responded because of the different emissions requirements. A Toyota mechanic said he's seen it in his shop- he says it's the drive by wire change that brought this about. Anybody else have any ideas if in fact there's a difference between Canadian and other cars, and if so, why? Thanks.
ImranS Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 There is definately a problem with the Transmission in my ES, but I've learned to live with it
bgkirkla Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I have my 2004 ES330 Sport Edition at the dealer right now for the same transmission problem. The service guy said they had received complaints about this and it was a software issue. From the posts on this site I would say they have received many complaints. It hesitates on acceleration badly, maybe 1-2 seconds after pedal is depressed. Very dangerous...
soggy60 Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 There's a thread in the RX330 forum on the same issue. Our RX has the same 'nothing happens' reaction to accelerator pedal pushing. RX in shop for stupid A/C problem; 2005 ES330 loaner - wife say slip-slop even worse in the ES !
steviej Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 There's a thread in the RX330 forum on the same issue. ← Not to mention a 28+ page thread pinned at the top of this forum. steviej
