Sam McBirney
I have a 92 ls400 with 100k miles. One day I went to drive it and it wouldn't go over 20 mph. I pulled over and it was idling very rough. I turned around for home and after the 5 min. drive it smelled very hot. At idle I smell a strong fuel smell as though it is running very rich. It starts fine though. Any suggestions? :(

nc211
Cataletic converter clog is my guess, especially since you're smelling fuel. I bet if you looked under the car, those puppies were glowing red. They might be on the way out, sorry man. Those aren't cheap. I'd do a search on the topic, it's been discussed quite a few times. Just run a key word on Cataletic converter. Question: Did your check engine light come on in the car?
sha4000
also good advice nc a blockage in the exhaust would create a loss in power but if he is also smelling fuel he should check his fuel lines for a leak let us know something Sam
