moe_rx
The thief that broke into my 2000 RX300 smashed the entire passender side window before climbing in and stole everything. My question is shouldn't the car alarm go off when the window was smashed? I'm not familiar with this car alarm system so bear with me. LexKid630
what kind of sensors are there in the car for the alarm? Always wondered that.
scoobie
what kind of sensors are there in the car for the alarm? Always wondered that. ← I remember reading in the owner's manual that the alarm sounds if someone attempts to open one of the car doors (or maybe even windows) without using the key. If the alarm was designed to trigger only under those circumstances, then it would not sound if the thief smashed the window but did not attempt to open the door. It seems what Lexus calls the "alarm" is a simple software add on. I don't think it has any kind of sensors to detect a break-in.
jbarhorst2
It will only go off when you unlock the door without the key or remote.
