Lexus with 2JZ-GE engines (Sg 300, Is 300 Sc 300 are they Interference or not???

Yes and No. See below for information, this information came from a Gates web page I just rearrange them in this order.

GS 300

1993-1997-2JZ GE Timing belt T215 change at 60,000 none Interference engine

1998-2004-2JZ GE Timing belt T215 change at 90,000 Interference engine

IS 300 2001-2004-2JZ GE Timing belt T215 change at 90,000 Interference engine

SC 300

1993-1997-2JZ GE Timing belt T215 change at 60,000 Interference engine

1998-2000-2JZ GE Timing belt T215 change at 90,000 none Interference engine

Whats the difference in Interface and non-interface? I'm still learnin.

Jacob, It's interference and noninterference. Noninterference means if the timing belt breaks then the valves won't hit the pistion. Obviously interference is the opposite <_<

wait, if your timing belt breaks... how would that cause the valves to hit the piston? does it allow the valves to go out of timing?

so for interference, even if the belt breaks, it won't cause the valve to hit the pistons?

The timing belt keeps the crank and cams in time with each other so yes if the belt breaks the valves go out of time with the pistons.

Interference means the valves and pistons can touch each other and non-interference means they won't.

Nearly every Toyota engine that uses a belt rather than a chain is non-interference.
