TexGX Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 I would like to add 12v plug to the cargo area. I find myself needing to run wires to the plug up front. The regular plug is ok, but I would use the 12v more. Just wanted to see if anyone has added a 12v plug? Can I tap into the power going to the current plug? How easy is it to remove the side panel on the passager side of the cargo area? Any help would be great. TexGX
lonewolf69 Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Radio Shack on other electronics chains offers an inverter, so that you plug your standard 110 outlet and it converts over to the 12V lighter end... Good Luck...

Good Luck... ← Lonewolf69. I have tried that, but the set up does not work. I asked the guys at Radio Shack and they said you can not convert 12 to 110 back to 12. I pulled off the rear panel last weekend and could not find any 12v source to tap into. It looks like I will have to run a source from the fuse box. TexGX
lonewolf69 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Tex, The first link is from RadioShack's website: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...uct%5Fid=22-507 Power your DC devices wherever there's a wall outlet! This 3-amp power supply allows you to use household AC to power 12 to 13.8VDC electronic devices and automotive accessories that have banana plugs or bare wire leads. It's ideal for use on a test bench when working on car stereos, CB sets or other communications equipment. ******************************************************* If this still doesn't work out for you, check out this other link... http://www.baproducts.com/asccustompages/p...sp?ProductID=67 Good luck...

I want a nice clean look by adding a plug. Plus the guys at Radio Shack said it would not work. I just need a good 12v source to tap into, or directions on the best way to run power from the fuse box and hide all the wires. Thanks, TexGX
lonewolf69 Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Hi Tex, Got no extra device that's going to be tough... I don't know how you'll be able to do it. Good luck... PS. Radio Shack guys are wrong, I'm using their product to power my 12 voit orbital buffer 8", and 12volt lamp... ;)
