  1. Vodka, Dr. Gee, You can only hear it from the headphones, but you MUST use your RES remote to change the AUDIO source, sorry, GX is parked in the garage and I don't have access to the menu rigth now. But there is an audio menu that will display and you'll just have to choose the source, the rear inputs will NOT output to ML speakers in the GX... -Alex
  2. Thanks Bree, I've been meaniing to bring up the BuyBack and Lemon laws for quite some time now... Thanks for the reminder and that the Lemon Laws do exists for a reason!!! :)
  3. hehe he Knock on wood, my GX470 05' now has close to 6000miles on it with no CLUNK so far... IT's still out there, I know some new owners are complaining about it, but there are far less complaints about this than there used to be... :) Bob, how's the 06' compared to the 05' model and I GOTTA ask... You the switch or trade in.... Dying of curiosity!!!! Exactly identicle and do you miss the extra HP your 05' had...!!! J/K, I know it's a new Gov't testing standard... Bur seriously would love to know what the differences are between the two, er, aside from your updated, NAV DVD version...!! :) -Alex
  4. NJ, The best I can say is that there are LESS complains about the thump now for the 2005/2006 models than there are for the 2003/2004 models. Officially I don't think Lexus has a FIX yet for this... But knock on wood, I certainly glad this hasn't happened to me yet... -Alex
  5. Erix, Just my $.02 here, after you're experience with SuperHID, I didn't think you would want to a chance on ordering from a non trusted source again... :( -Alex
  6. SK, Erix's GX is just like everyone else's it is using the correct projector lens, I doubt very much that Lexus would change Erix projector on him. You do realize of course that there are many MANY people myself included who have upgraded to HIDs for the GX with no issues right and that we ALL have the same projectors? Our HID kits from XenonDepot and Proxenon(?) are plug and play with no adjustments necessary to the factory OEM projectors. Erix's problem most likely is due to one of the following: 1. Poorly re-based H11 bulbs (as Robinson stated here on this thread) 2. Erix received H8 bulbs instead of H11 (as stated in same thread at Clublexus) ******************************************************* Erix, let's hope you get an answer soon from your dealer shortly, let us know how this pans out... -Alex
  7. Glen, I'm so glad to hear that you've escaped from this accident relatively unscathed. That's very re-assuring to hear that you didn't get whiplash or seriously hurt. Now, I'm not here to "defend" IIHS in any way shape or form, BUT, you clearly stated that you realize you were about to be hit so you: 1. Took the foot off brake 2. Put your head against the headrest These two things are what are most important to keep yourself from getting a whiplash. God forbid I'm not hoping for another accident but if it were to happen and you weren't prepared ahead of time to put your head back and the foot off the brakes, I don't know if you would have had similar results. Before anyone starts to criticize me, let me say that I've been in a car accident and I've suffered whiplash, this is NOT the type of pain I would wish on anyone. After years of physical therapy and healing, I'm still not 100%. On average about 5 times a day, I have to "snap" my neck just to work out the KINKS... (Like cracking one's knuckles)... Each crakle brings a searing shot of pain from the base of my neck down my Right arm, but if I don't crack my neck, I have this "gnawing" sensation... Sorry to all for the long rant, but I just wanted to give the "flip" side of the story, and Glen, I'm very VERY happy you are safe... Peace... -Alex PS. I knew before I clicked on the 2nd IIHS link that the VOLVO would be the Luxury SUV that would have had the good safety rating. Their vehicles from the SEDANS to the SUV have the WHIPS system for the headrest which basically does what Glenn did, automatically. Forces the headrest to come into contact against the head to prevent the neck and head from snapping...
  8. GXRemote, CS Guard, Check this out from Mr. Yellow: As a owner of an 05 GX and a Lexus master tech, here is the unoffical word that I have gotten from the tech department---a revised rear driveshaft is still under development---I have worked on GX's 03-05 experiencing the clunk, and yes mine does it too---the problem lies with the slip yoke on the end of the driveshaft (end of the shaft slides in/out on splines)---the clunk comes from the splines that are machined onto the main part of the shaft and the yoke sticks as is slides---has to be at the right height to make it happen---first there was a service bulletin with an updated shaft---still makes noise with new shaft--then there is an un-offical field fix that involved cleaning/smoothing out the splines--50/50 chance if it worked---as of right now, when a GX comes in with a clunk complaint---we submit VIN and customer info to Lexus tech center and they are building a case for correction---still have yet to see new "updated" shaft (2nd time), but i will keep everyone posted--I have access to all Lexus service bulletins if needed (Lexus service bulletins are public type documents---there was some lawsuit that made it illegal to keep service bulletins from the public eye--if you go to a Lexus dealer and ask for a copy of a bulletin, they should give it to you hope this helps answer some questions Jason (Post # 14, Page 1) http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...opic=25874&st=0 Hope this helps!!! -Alex
  9. Hi John, Please note that CoastalETech has close down for about two (2) weeks due to new addition to the family! :) But they are now acknowledging the BLUETOOTH version for the GX and FULL mention of the LEXUS on their home page!!!! Exciting news indeed... http://www.coastaletech.com/ To be 100% sure you're getting the correct unit, I would contact them directly before placing an order, I know that their contact has been spotty in the past, if you keep calling them, they WILL eventually pick up... Good Luck!!!! -Alex
  10. Hi Erix, Just to put in my $.02, I purchased the XD kit based on the FEEDBACK and reviews on this board and on the other boards and although the XD was a little more expensive, the PEACE of mind that was offered from Steve at XENONDEPOT and the DIY instructions (EXCELLENT) swayed my decision. I'm sure the JDM and other kits might work out just as well, but as there is no track record on the forums regarding this company, we can't tell for sure. Bottom line is you are absolutely correct, READ/READ/READ and then READ or RESEARCH more on this topic but ultimately you'll have to make a decision on the kit. Congratulations on your GX, you'll be ABSOLUTELY amazed how much NICER the GX looks with the HID kit, I purchased the 6000K kit with a slight bluish tint, but in hindsight, I'm thinking MAYBe I should have purchased the 4300K very VERY bright white... Oh well, when the bulb dies, I'll have a good excuse to change them out to the 4300K... -Alex PS. I have NO affliliation with XenonDepot at all, before anyone starts to question my integrity... :)
  11. Antonio, This is a PLUG n PLAY kit that does not strip any wires nor CUT any OEM wires on your LEXUS. The kit is made by CoastalETech and is basically a CABLE extender with a Circuit board on it. Think JOYSTICK extension and/or VGA monitor extension CABLE. This was originally intended for the Toyota Prius 05' but since it's NAV unit is the SAME as the GX 05' the kit now serves double duty for Toyota and Lexus. Lexus GX - Under the passenger seat (front) is the DVD-ROM player unit for the NAVIGATION unit, bolted to the floor. There are two cables that connect to the DVD unit. Unplug the cables from the DVD unit. PLUG in one end of the CoastalETech unit into the DVD unit and the OTHER end of the Coastal unit now sport the SAME exact connectors that the DVD unit had. Take the original two cables that were disconnected from the DVD unit and plug them into the REMAINING end of the Coastal unit and that's all!!! ***Note, you MUST pull the front passenger seat all the way back to reach the cable and the connectors... No Mess, No Fuss, no CUTTING of OEM wire (warranty void???) and simple, but be forewarned it is a bit on the expensive side for $100.00 but then again if you're already buying a $50K vehicle this might be so bad... Just my proverbial $.02.... -Alex
  12. Good News indeed Daryl, You're about the 6th or 8th person to report good news on the CoastalEtech unit for the 05' model. All, Be aware, though that this kit is not PLUG n PLAY for 04' or 03' models. Seems the molex connectors are different... on the 04'/03' models than on the 05' GX/Prius... -Alex
  13. Rob, Yes on the clamp, if you're talking about the XenonDepot kit, that's exactly what I did, but I did tuck the "hot" red wire nice and neat. I believe you're right about the AUTO object avoidance on the power windows and that is probably why it needs to be reset... Hitting L1 or L2 on the memory seat function will not restore it this... Good Luck... -Alex BTW, I didn't forget, here is the quote: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...ghlight=hid+diy (Page 3) on my browser Calibrating your windows after battery connection -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I forgot to tell you guys that after you reconnect your battery the windows need to be calibrated. The way you do this is watch for a blinking window button on each door. You have to do the exact sequence of each door as it blinks or you cannot use your windows. Here are the steps. first the driver window button will blink. lower the window half way down then raise the window up to max and hold the button for 5 seconds. Then the front passenger window button will light up and you do the same thing for each door as it lights up. It goes driver, front passenger, rear passenger side then rear driver side then do your sunroof by hitting the tilt button hold for 5 seconds and that calibrates all the windows. Took me 20 minutes to figure this out because the instructions are vague in the owners manual.
  14. Hi Rugged, Anything is possible with the dealer, BEFORE you sign off on delivery, until then, they will WINE/DINE you, just make sure you SPELL out exactly what your terms are in advance. When I ordered my GX, I specidfically told my Sales person that I did not want to get the AUDIOVOX equipied RES and that I wanted the OEM unit because I didn't want to lose remote control funtionality and direct connect interface with the head unit on the NAV. Seel the manager order a GX with the Audiovox anyway and told the sales person to try to pan it off to me, but my sales person knew me well enough after that I wouldn't take the GX as is, especially after our initial discussion. Long story short, the manager apologized and re-ordered a new GX with Pearl white instead of Dorado Gold and took off a few $$$ for the wait, I couldn't be happier!!!! Bottomline, until you sign the delivery ticket, the dealer "tries" to cater to you as much as possible, I would tell dealer that you "know" there are three different brand of tires that are shipped with the truck but that you would like to ENSURE that Michelin tires are equipped on the truck when you take delivery... *whew* mouthful... Good Luck! -Alex
  15. Robinzon, Had to disco battery for my HID installation and when I did that, I lost my custom settings for the door locks, seating positions, mirror positions and the POWER windows had to be reset. If you don't reset power windows you will not ba able to open the windows at all... Have to dig through the threads again but it was something like from drivers side lower the first window halfway down and then bring it all the way back up, the front passenger side then BOTH rear passengers and the SUN roof too... I don't remember if the radio stations we're reset, sorry... I'll post more details when I find it again... Tony's review on Clublexus for HID installation ("Sticky"?) has this listed on page 3 or 4... -Alex
