PearlLex
My cousin bought a '92 ES300 about a month ago and the dealer installed a cd changer for him when he got it. Since he does not have a CD button on the radio, the radio has to be turned to a certain radio station, which the cd player can be heard on. This makes the quality of all the cd's sound like the radio which isn't very good. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?
amf1932
That's a very shabby way of installing a CD Changer! You won't be able to increase the fidelity while playing CD's using this type of RF hookup. It now is actually transmitting the signal to the tuner section of the radio rather than it being hard wired into radio itself.
chillaxin
that sucks. isn't there a way to get a separate cd control installed somewhere?
PIONEERSUBY
an option would be toCHANGE OUT THE WHOLE RADIO TO ONE WITH A CD BUTTON. THEY Are not hard to come buy. then a cd changer cable can be made and attached to the factory changer. it would use your present amp and speakers. chillaxin
soundz like an expensive job to do though, changing out the entire radio... i mean, unless you try to get one of those aftermarket ones that i doubt would fit into the entire head unit area of the lexus. ProZac
Sounds like the dealer used an RF modulator.. My dad has one for his XM Sattalite Radio in his 4-Runner, and for my XM in my es300 i use the tape adaptor. I don't notice a difference at all so i too will buy an RF Modulaor. Maybe the quality of the modulator has something to do with the sound quality of the cd player? ~ProZac~
