tagman12
Hey experts, I need a little help here. I am looking at purchasing an '01 GS 430. I noticed that it failed emissions (NY) in '03 and then passed emissions (on the same day that is failed emissions) (information provided by CARFAX). Is is this normal that this car would fail emissions and get fixed and pass emissions on the same day? Is it more likely that the testing was flawed and then it was retested and passed essentially in the same visit? It does not seem normal for a Lexus to fail emissions only 2 years into it's life. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks, Tag
cruznroadking
Need to get more info. You can failed an emissions test for something as simple as a missing gas cap or a gas cap that fails the leak test. Also if the check engine light is on it's an automatic fail. SKperformance
could have been the car was not heated properly to avoid issues of the cat not being able to burn excess fuel. It happened to my wifes car and i made the dealership eat both tests for not testing it properly the first time.
