Zdeno Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Hi guys I´d like to ask you which material you use for sealing ring under the oil screw. I already trid couple of washers but still have a drop of oil on the screw after I change the oil. I used a plastic or cuprum washer but still have a drop of oil there. Or do you use some of the sealing or is better to put only the screw without the sealing ?? I used OEM toyota filter for my 1991 LS and there was no washer in the box. Thanks guys !

Zdeno Posted December 16, 2004 Author Posted December 16, 2004 Where do you usually order your oil filter and washers ??
CUMan Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 For a number of years now, I have used nylon gaskets for the oil drain plug. In my opinion, aluminum gaskets are not good. I know that numerous auto manufacturers use them; however, they are so hard that it is very easy to overtighten the drain plug and strip the threads of the oil pan. I did this on an Acura Legend I used to own. Since that time, I have used the nylon gaskets. They compress enough to seal tight and last a long time. They are readily available at Auto Zone and Advance.

Lexusfreak Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I get mine at any Toyota or Lexus parts department........I think they come in small bag's of 10 - 12 or something. I got a bag for like $2.50 B) & they are aluminum. No leaks! :)
