Check Engine Light

the check engine light lit up, and a couple of miles later (like 150)it went away.

what do i do? have it scanned?

but the light is not on anymore, will it still read something?

from what i have read on this boards, if you dont have the light on, the scanner wont read anything.

maybe i am wrong.

once the light comes on it registers a code

it will go off if the problem corects itself after 3 turns of a key being driven

so the code is stored until cleared by a scanner or the power is removed for about a minute, othewise it is waiting to give you an idea of what is going on.
