  1. hi guys, i was having lots of problems with my car. overheating, transmission slips, engine knocking, you name it. I realized that i had almost no water coolant in the engine or whatever you want to call it. so i had to add a lot of coolant, a lot, several liters. and it finally filled up, there is no leak. so i guess i had overlooked that. my car works much better now. I only have one problem that i need advice with. one motor mount is gone, or several, i dont know. I can tell because the engine jumps every time i shift from p to d. I looked at the engine while somebody else shifted it, and it did it. And i had had that problem with another car, so i can notice when i see it. My car is a 94 es300 with 155k on it, I did not paid much for it, maybe 5K a about two and a half years ago. The car is in excellent condition, very good interior, the works. should i have the mounts fixed? is it worth it for this car? I only plan to drive the car for maybe another 2 years or until i reach 200k miles. what do you guys think.
  2. ok, guys. i have another problem. I guess i am just noticing it all at once, or maybe this car is falling apart on me. When i turn on the car cold in the morning, or maybe after an extended period of inactivity (maybe 8 hours or more). it idles at almost 2k rpm. then it slowly starts to move all the way down to 1250 rpm. it probably takes about 2 minutes. I have read different posts about this, but mine has a different twist. If i dont wait until rpm have come down to a low level (lets say 1250 rpm or lower), when i shift to drive, the shift is not really smooth at all. it jerks. but it shifts smoothly, if i take the time to wait for the rpm to come down. any tips appreciated. :chairshot:
  3. but the light is not on anymore, will it still read something? from what i have read on this boards, if you dont have the light on, the scanner wont read anything. maybe i am wrong. tx
  4. the check engine light lit up, and a couple of miles later (like 150)it went away. what do i do? have it scanned? tx
  5. i am the guy that is having transmission problems. you recommended that i flush the tranny and get an external filter. Where do you think i should do this kind of work? how much do you think it should cost? jiffy lube, or a specialized placed, maybe the dealer? I am going to try doing that and see what happens. I dont drive much, maybe 300 miles per month. but i dont want my transmission to die just yet. I tried to send you a private message, but the computer told me that i was not allowed that feature. god knows why. tx
  6. I have noticed that many of you guys have mentioned that you go to autozone to have somebody take a read of what might be malfunctioning in the car. I live real close to an autozone, and i would like to know whats wrong with my car. what kind of service do i need to ask them for? how much does it cost? is it offered in every autozone? i looked it up on their site but could not find it. tx i have a lexus es300
  7. It now takes over a full second from car to swich gears, it only happens when moving from P to D, and only in the mornings when i first turn on the car. Other than that the ride continues to be smooth. any ideas? if the tranny is going to die eventually, how can i extend the life of it without having it replaced or refurbished? the car is old and not worth the $2 grand a tranny would cost me. plan to ride until it dies if i have to. tx
  8. hi, i thank you in advance for any input you can give me. I was driving my car to orlando, about 200 miles from here, halfway trough the trip i stop for about an hour to eat something. when i get back in the car everything is fine, until about five minutes later when overdrive light starts blinking, for about 2 seconds. then it stopped doing it. at about the same time the check engine light came back on. the car continued working fine. It was late and i was in the middle of nowhere, so i continued to orlando. the only thing i have noticed is that the car makes a squeaky noise every 30 seconds, at the same time that i hear that noise, it feels as if the engine lets go, but i see no change on the speed or the rpms. other than that the car runs as usual. its a 94 es300 with 150k miles. any help will be appreciated.
