Hi,

About 2 months ago, I purchase the chrome rims and installed on my RX330.

But, some people told me that the chrome rims can/will be damaged easily in winter.

Is it true? Should I put the alloy rims back before we get snow?

Thanks

stock chrome rims will usually hold up

but aftermarket ones are not that great for driving in snow and salt

use cheap rims for winter unless you only drive it when the weather is nice outside in the winter

as it will usally peel on the inside of the rims which can cause slow leaks on the tires bead over time

also it makes the finish look scratched as it will be against more abrasive surfaces such as sand and salt mixed with snow

Thanks.

I will put original rims back. My chrome is also oem rims but I don't want to damage my chrome.

It's a good idea at least once a year to put a real good coating of wax (or Chrome polish) on the rims whether or not you use them in the winter to protect the finish. OEM rims (chrome or not) hold up much better than many aftermarket stuff. B)

Rather than using wax or chrome polish , you should use a sealant such as Meguiars NXT. Reason being wax will not withstand the heat generated by the wheels, wheras a sealant will.
