99 Rx 300 Auto Transmission Check

Hi. Just purchased a used 99 RX300. The owners manual does not state how to properly check auto transmission fluid. Is it with the fluid warm and engine running or with engine off ? Both methods are used depending on the manufacturer and I'm not sure of the Lexus method. (my Honda is engine off.) I just want to make sure my fluid is at the proper level.

it has to be warm and at operating temp, so best ot check after driving and going to park it on a level surface
