Hello, guys.

I need some advice from you. I'm considering an idea to sell my IS300 to my friend and was wondering what would be a fair price. Bluebook says $20500. If I bring it to a dealer, I would get $18000 according to the book.

I have a 2001 IS300 (full option) with 31,000 miles on. It just got 30,000 mile service ($750). I've never missed a service. The car is in an excellent condition with a very minor scratch/dent on lower part of the right rear door and body. Tires (performance) and wheels (Lexus factory made) are only a half year old. I've also purchased 3 additional factory warranty from Lexus.

I'm plannig to sell my car at the end of this December.

How would I find a fair price?

What would be a fair price?

(and, is there any potential buyer ou there?)

Thank you for your time and input.

Thank you so much for your quick and timely input.

I've used online calculator and got the similar result. Private transaction = around $20500.

The seller (I) is located in Washington DC and the Buyer in Boston.

This is my first time to sell or buy anything this expensive between friends. I'm not looking to make a large profit. I just want to be fair. What should be the price range? I would assume that usually it's hard to find a buyer right away and the end price tends to be lower than the result by calculator.

Please, give me some number and your justification/ opinion.

Thanks a lot.

The prices you find online are selling prices, not asking prices. Blue Book prices are derived from actual sales.

It's your choice man. I doubt there's any profit in selling a car you've had for awhile. Maybe price it between wholesale and private sale value. If selling to a friend, get the money up front. It's easy to lose a friend over a car deal.
