suz3x Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I have a 2003 GS430 and when I drive, something beeps or squeaks repetitively for a short period of time. The sound is coming from I think the steering rack or the gauge cluster. I bought this car used with a check engine light, ABS light, and VSC light ON. I used a scanner and the codes were for a bad catalytic converter and a bad evap system. When I cleared all of the codes, every light went off. But that’s when I started hearing these beeping sounds. RX400h Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Quote Let’s break down the possibilities: Beeping Noise: Some Lexus GS owners have reported a beeping noise inside the car, similar to what you described. It’s not the typical “beep beep beep” but more like a prolonged “beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.” One potential cause is a slightly tilted sunroof. If the sunroof is still tilted up when you remove the key without closing it first, it triggers a series of three quick beeps1. Another possibility is related to the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). If you’ve ever hit a turn too hard and activated VSC, you might have heard a loud “BEEEEEEEEPPPP.” This sound serves as a warning to the driver and indicates that the VSC system intervened. Check Engine Light, ABS Light, and VSC Light: The fact that you had these warning lights on initially suggests there might be underlying issues with the ABS system, brake system, or VSC. Clearing the codes turned off the lights, but it seems to have triggered the beeping sounds. It’s essential to address the root cause of those warning lights. Steering Rack and Gauge Cluster: While the beeping noise seems unrelated to the steering rack or gauge cluster, it’s essential to rule out any mechanical issues. A creaking sound when turning the steering wheel could indicate suspension system problems, tie rod damage, or issues with the power steering rack. Professional Inspection: I recommend having a professional mechanic inspect your Lexus GS430. They can diagnose the specific issue by checking for error codes, examining the steering components, and assessing the VSC system. Addressing the initial warning lights and resolving any underlying problems should help eliminate the beeping noise. 1
