ES300 Malfunctioning Drivers Window

Recommended Posts

Dear Fellow Lexus Owners, I have an 01 Lexus ES300.  The drivers side window is malfunctioning in the automatic mode after I had the window regulator replaced.

When I click the window control for automatic closing, The window automatically closes and then comes back open, about 6 inches.  I have to close the window a little at a time to fully close it.

Does anyone else have this problem?  What is the solution?

 Let’s explore some potential solutions:

  1. Window Motor Retiming:

  2. Window Motor Reset:

  3. Check for Obstructions:

    • Ensure there are no obstructions (such as debris or misaligned tracks) preventing the window from closing fully.
    • Inspect the window tracks and seals for any issues.
  4. Inspect the Regulator Installation:

    • Double-check that the window regulator was installed correctly.
    • Verify that all bolts and connections are secure.

Dear Dave, When I sent your email to my auto repair shop, they told me that the window was malfunctioning because the window regulator I supplied for the repair is a Toyota Camry regulator, not a Lexus ES300 regulator.  When I bought the window regulator, the vendor told me that the regulator was the same part for Toyota Camry or the  Lexus ES300 regulator.  It is a different part no, but the same part.

is the repair company correct, or is the regulator the same?  Why would the regulator not work in the ES300?
