  1. What to do about corroded Alloy rims Dear Fellow Lexus Owners, I have 2 ES300s, a 98 and an 01. Both are losing air from the tires incessantly. Yesterday I had one wheel removed, rim cleaned, and tire remounted, $31.50. Does anyone have a better solution? JC
  2. Lexus Forum 261122 01 Lexus ES300 Overheating Dear Lexus Forum, I have a Florida 01 Lexus ES300 , with only 95,000 miles which is losing coolant and Overheating. It has only 95,000 miles on it. I seldom drive it over 5 miles at a time. For some reason it usually runs at about 1/2 on the temp gauge, while my 98 Lexus ES300 runs at 1/8 or less and never overheats. Once in a while it has overheated, so I have added water to the radiator. This year I have noticed I have to add water every 2 months, so I had a radiator flush done at Pep Boy's, thinking that the % of water vs anti freeze was too high, so it needed the flush with coolant replacement. Today, I needed to charge the battery so I left it running in the driveway for an hour. When I got back the car had overheated and lost a lot of coolant. I wonder if I need a new water pump, or thermostat, or maybe the radiator itself has gone bad. I don't understand why my 98 ES300 radiator has been trouble free for 20 years, while the 01 ES300 radiator has been a chronic problem. Thanks in advance for your advice. JC
  3. Dear Trevor, thanks for the info. I have been able to get info on TireJect, but not on Slime. Slime is about half the price of TireJect. JC
  4. Dear Fellow Lexus Owners, having had frequent and continuous leaking from the rims of my alloy wheels, I am interested if anyone has used Tireject or Slime to repair the leaks. JC
  5. I just found the following on the Cadillac forum. https://www.cadillacforums.com/threads/tireject-automotive-tire-sealant.1077480/
  6. Thanks, RX400h. I have spoken to my tire repair guy about it. He said that it may affect the balance of the tire, but agreed to help me test the theory. As I have said, TireJect looks good. But I would like to talk with some people who have actually used it.
  7. Dear Mama K, did you use the Slime and did it work? JC
  8. Thanks for your response, RX400H. Actually there is at least one tire sealant product especially for this problem: TireJect. I have researched it, and it looks good. But I would like to talk with some people who have tried automotive tire sealant products. Jim
  9. Dear Fellow Lexus Owners, I have 2 ES300s, a 98 and an 01. Both are losing air from the tires incessantly. I think the problem is corrosion of the alloy rims. Has anyone else had this problem? One solution is to replace the rims, very expensive. Another solution is to break down all 4 tires, clean the rims, and remount the tires, which is kind of expensive. and will recur. Has anyone injected tire sealant through the tire valve to fix this? You have to drive the car right after, so that the sealant spreads to any leaks in the tire. JC
  10. Dear KCPth and Gold Country, I am having the same trouble with my 98 and 01 Lexus ES300s. I think the problem is corrosion of the rims, causing a small leak where the rubber meets the rim. JC
  11. I took the car to an auto electric shop. They said I need to replace the Blower Motor Control Module. The item is pricey, around $300.

  13. Dear Dennis, I am having a similar problem on my 2001 Lexus ES300. "...Intermittent failure of my Air Conditioning blower, 2001 ES300. I had the blower motor replaced 2 years ago, so I know the blower itself is good. The air conditioning itself is working, as I am getting cold air while driving, even if the blower is not working. The blower goes on and runs for 30 seconds, then shuts off. .." What was the result? Were you able to get the problem fixed? Jim
  14. Lexus Owners 080621 Intermittent failure A C blower Dear Fellow Lexus owners, I am experiencing an Intermittent failure of my Air Conditioning blower, 2001 ES300. I had the blower motor replaced 2 years ago, so I know the blower itself is good. The air conditioning itself is working, as I am getting cold air while driving, even if the blower is not working. The blower goes on and runs for 30 seconds, then shuts off. Has anyone had this problem? JC
  15. Apparently, no other ES 300 owner has owned both the 98 and 2001 Lexus ES300?
  16. Dear fellow Lexus owners, Disconnecting the Positive Battery Cable on my 98 Lexus ES300 doesn't work. It had no effect. The key fob still won't lock or unlock the car. Does anyone know the best place to stand to lock the doors remotely? Does anyone have another idea? JC
  17. Dear Helpermunkey, I will try the disconnecting the battery and see. JC
  18. I am having a similar problem with my 98 Lexus ES300. Up until last month, the remote locking/unlocking feature worked fine. Now, My 98 Lexus ES300 is no longer locking using the remote key fob. I have checked the coin battery in the fob, and changed it, to no effect. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know the best place to stand to lock the doors remotely?
  19. Dear fellow Lexus owners, my 98 Lexus ES300 apparently has a burned out center brake light bulb. I couldn't figure out how to access it and change it. Help! JC .
  20. Dear fellow Lexus owners, my 98 Lexus ES300 is such a great car, after a few years, I purchased what I thought was basically the same car, a 2001 Lexus ES300. Then the troubles began. The 01 Lexus has automatic dimming mirrors. The driver side mirror began clouding up, a very expensive fix. Since I bought a Lexus safety inspected used car, I contacted Lexus and they agreed to pay half the repair. The 01 runs halfway up on the temp gauge, while the 98 runs at 1/8. I have to add water every few months with the 01. The heater fan on the 01 has an interference problem and sometimes makes loud noises. Right now it doesn't work at all, and looks like I have to replace the fan. My 01 right passenger window regulator had to be replaced. My 01 right passenger window switch had to be replaced. The 01 seems to drain the battery when not run for a week or more. While the 98 with 225,000 miles on it, is still a great car, the 01 with 90,000 miles on it, is not so good. Does anyone else own a 98 and/or an 01 Lexus ES300? What is your experience?
  21. Dear Trevor, Sorry it took so long to reply. I missed the notification that you had responded. There definitely is some difference in the two radiator systems. In fact, I have to add water every 6 months, to the 01 Lexus ES300, but I have never had to add any water to the 98 Lexus ES300. JC
  22. Dear fellow Lexus owners, my 01 Lexus ES300 runs a lot hotter than my 98 Lexus ES300. Both have the same engine. The 98 temp gauge shows in the very low area, and the 01 shows medium. The 98 Lexus radiator capacity, 9.2 L, or 9.7 Qt The 01 Lexus radiator capacity, 8.8 L, or 9.3 Qt That .4 qt shouldn't make such a big diff in operating temp. Does anyone else have this problem with the 01 Lexus? JC
