I have a 2008 Lexus rx350, and the ABS light is on with C0205 code (and the "VSC OFF" and "TRAC" light, and other codes).

I pulled the speed sensor, and cleaned some metal rust sticking to it. I drove the car, but the ABS light is still on?

So, I wanted to do on ohms test from the harness connector to the speed sensor connector, but, my speed sensor does not 'clip onto' the ABS wiring at the wheel. It appears to be a solid connection, molded together.

Is there still a way to do ohms test the ABS wire - can I use just test for ohms from the connector that is at the start of the ABS wire, where it connects and goes to the rest of the harness? And what ohms reading should I get if that is a valid way to test?

BTW, If my ABS light was on due to the rust on the speed sensor, and if cleaning that rusty metal off of the sensor was the solution - would the ABS light go off by itself, or, does the C0205 code need to be manually cleared to turn off the ABS light?

Is your battery okay? How old is it?

I put the meter on the battery, and it's 12.5 Volts. Not sure how old battery is, I bought this RX530 about 6 months ago. Previous owner said he replaced the battery, but, I don't recall when he said.

But, I figured since  I saw a C2025 code (Front LH speed sensor circuit) - this was not likely a battery issue, and, as I said battery has 12.5 volts.

this is from experience from a LS430

if you pull the speed sensor, you need to clean it up and place it back very carefully to align it back to aim at the spokes on the shaft.

 

if it has a protective metal cover, you must ensure this is aligned and squashed back properly.

aiming it is very awkward and i don't know how to replicate how i successfully did it. it required some stiff plastic tubing, lots of pictures from a camera and carefully tightening it afterwards.

 

if you are off by even a slight degree and it isn't aimed properly, you may have to start all over again.

this is time consuming if you don't get it right because you need to jack up the car, remove the wheel, mess with it, put the wheel back on, remove the jack, clear the code, try again.

 

you'll need to get some wire, preferably from a paperclip into the OBD2 ports. 

this should trigger a diagnostic and reset. hopefully it clears. give it a drive and pray you aligned it properly.

Hey O-O-O

So, I put in a new ABS sensor,and took the RX350 for a drive and the ABS, VSC OFF, and Traction warning lights went off before I even got to the end of the block. I sanded the hub nice and smooth, so the new ABS sensor is seated nicely.

So, I thought I had the ABS light problem solved.

Then I decided to run a complete scan with my bluetooth OBD2 scanner (a BLCKTEC scanner) and the c0205 and other braked codes came back on, along with the ABS light in the dash! It's almost like the bluetooth scan triggered the ABS light to go back on! Is that possible? So, I took the car for another drive hoping the lights would go off, again - but not luck. Lights are still back on. The new ABS sensor OHM'd at 1.6 k OHMS, which is supposedly right in the middle of the acceptable range of 1.4 to 1.8.

So,I guess I will try the paperclip reset you suggested. Which positions is the paperclip in? The picture is a little blurry. Can I mess anything up trying this?
