kizmazz Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Hey Guys, My wife had this car since almost new and loves it. I’ve offered to trade it several times she says no. Now we are faced with getting transmission repaired and not having any success in finding a shop that has parts to repair it. I’ve called several shops including the one I’ve used to fix my classic cars and they all say Toyota stopped making parts. It’s a 140 E, does anyone have parts or a good used transmission ? Thanks! Ron
craw Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Some highlanders have the same transmission, also look at rock auto
kizmazz Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 I asked a shop about Highlander and was told they are different but will certainly check. Thanks for the input.
craw Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Your shop is wrong, there is a write up on here (or clublexus.com)about it. Good luck

unknwn Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 There are shift kits available that might help overcome suspected problems that might turn out to be actually less severe than anticipated. Also, a friction materials and sealing parts set -might- be all that is ultimately required (I'd give it a new torque converter though) if you could find a reputable technician to perform overhaul work. If you've kept up on the fluid changes, and aren't discovering 'chunkies' in the pan/strainer/magnets, then the possibility of hard parts could be much less likely. I'd be looking for a -relatively- lower mileage used unit, and have an overhaul performed on it.
