2007 RX400H replace Timing Belt every 108 months?

2007 RX400H  Service Manual says to replace Timing Belt every 108 months. This is an expensive job but is it really needed that frequently? How many miles between Timing Belt changes? Thanks for any information on this issue. Bob

That's 9 years. That's about $167/ year figuring $1500 to do it. 
A $5000 engine would be $555/ year.

I had the belt replaced in my 2008 Rx400h at 100000 miles.  I asked for the part back and the belt was hardly worn.  I inspected it with a magnified glass and found nothing.

Did you flex the belt to see if there are any cracks? What year did you have the belt replaced?

Yes, nothing.  I am not says not to follow manufacturers suggestions.
