Remote Door Lock Problem

Question. The remote door lock system only works when the car sits out overnight in freezing temps. Once the car heater starts and partially heats the inside of the car, it stops working. The keys work. I set the radio to the frequency that the key transmits and could hear the noise when I press the button. I did run the diagnostics in the shop manual with the lock unlock 10 times and the system checks out ok. The next step is to put the key into the box where the receiver exists in the trunk and try that. Any ideas on other things to check?

Things I have thought of

On off switch on the dash bad

wire loose under dash

Any other ideas before I rip this thing apart?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

First i have to say you made a simple consise post with all relative info ,tried all possible failures and posted results.

I wish all members would make such good posts.

anyway

See if you have the weird ground problem in the trunk arm that is a common light failure problem might cause it.

Well you have narrowed it down to a heat resistanse problem in the car .

have you tried leaving the trunk open to see if it is related to the temp in the trunk?

by the way when does it get freezing in Kansas not like i have ever been there?
