Cabin air filter replacement 2009 rx350

Hi, does the white or charcoal side go facing up when installing a new cabin air filter for my 09 rx350? Took the old one out without looking, not realizing my new one, aftermarket, doesn't have any arrows.

I believe the arrow on the side of the filter should be pointing upward.

there is an arrow on the side of the filter . Face arrow up on Oem filter! Good luck

No arrow on the filter, which is what's causing me confusion. Does carbon side or white side face up when installing?

Is that the carbon or white side facing up? My aftermarket filter has no arrows?

It looks like the carbon side is facing up because otherwise (I would think) the top would be white. My filter is made by Wix or other NAPA brand, so there is no dark side.
