Does this car have brake pad wear sensors that tell you when the pads are low? I've got 45K on the original pads and have seen no light or any other indication. I've heard an occasional slight grnidng noise when the car is cold, but nothing elase after it warms up.

Amazingly, my 2000 RX300 has the original pads at 74,000 miles. Hard to believe, but both Lexus and my tire guy said at 70,000 they didn't need replacing yet. I've decided I'm definitely getting it done at 75,000 anyhow!! So, if you're as easy on your brakes as I am (I never come up hard to the stop sign), then you've got quite a few more miles before that expense!

Both the inboard pads on the front and the rear use metal clips as so called sensors. The clips will scratch the rotors as the pads are down to their minimum. At 74,000 miles, the pads might still be ok, but the caliper slides are probably due for fresh lubricant.
