  1. As long as you are under 50,000 miles, they must address the problem. Whether or not it is a warranty concern, I cannot say. Make sure it is written up and that you have a copy!
  2. I know exactly what you're talking about! I have found the temp to be on the cool side in my original 2000 RX as well as my Rx350. When I compare it to the same temp in the Mercedes or the LL Bean Subaru, it is definitely a good 3-4 degrees chillier for any given temp. I too would appreciate knowing a remedy other than always setting it higher to compensate!
  3. Sorry I've taken so long to reply. Guess I've just been having too much fun out there driving!! So far, I am pleased with the mpg of my RX350. Since I've hit 11,000 miles, I can say I have had plenty of experience at the gas pump. Repeatedly, on the short hauls (continual stopping for lights and signs) I average a little better than 19 mpg. On the long haul, on more than one occasion I have hit 29mpg on steady turnpike driving over a period of 2 hours. But that is a rarity. Highway averages 25-27, depending on number of stops if any, accelerations for passing, bottlenecks, etc. And yes, I have done the math myself and found it correlates very very closely to the MPG reading in the car. What I have found very interesting is the fact that my short runs in the mountains even with all the hills seem to average well over 20mpg. I guess it's because of the lack of stops from point to point even though I may be travelling at the same speed as I do for the short runs at home in flat NJ.
  4. I cannot imagine having difficulty in the snow with an RX. Perhaps the person writing the criticism did not have AWD. My RX300 never let me down. So I'm sure my RX350 will prove steadfast as well. I drive on snow and ice with little trepidation in the RX. My only fear is the other guy! And when I am in the Pocono mountains where there is always snow throughout the winter, I feel very safe. Of course, I don't do anything stupid either.
  5. Would you please add the 2007 RX350 AWD to the list?
  6. No problem thus far with my RX350, but thanks for the alert. Sounds like it's just a matter of time if HQ is already working on a solution!
  7. Linda C, Our 350 is great also. My wife traded in a 2001 Yukon XL and really loves the nimbleness of the RX. Cheers, Kris Hi, Kris, I'm happy to hear you are enjoying your new 350! I must say it is truly a pleasure to drive! I agree with your wife: it's a nimble vehicle!! Have fun! Linda
  8. I'm happy to report that there is absolutely no hesitation whatsoever! I noticed the difference immediately since I had noticed a slight hesitation problem with my 300 at times.
  9. Did you consider, test drive, the RX400h first and if so why didn't you buy it? Nothing I have read has supported the additional cost involved. Although the electric engine may prove advantageous for city driving, from what I have read, it wouldn't help out with my long runs to the mountains, etc. Very rarely do I do city driving if I can help it!
  10. Just here to brag about my beautiful new RX 350. The best way to describe the ride is ---silk! I traded in my 2000 RX300 with 104,000 miles. Happy to say I received the top Kelley Blue Book trade-in value since it looked like new! I can't believe the difference in the 350's pep with the increase of HP. It really competes with the sporty feel of Infiniti's FX35 but is a more luxurious ride. It's so much fun to drive!
  11. My 2000 RX300 is cruising along just fine at 95,000 miles. No problems. But then I have never missed a service nor am I ever late for the oil change. Tell your Dad he has found a real gem with only 14,000 miles on it!!!
  12. My 2000 RX300 has reached 81K with no brake job yet. I think it'll be time with the next service. Amazing! The serviceman teased me: "Are you sure you stop at red lights?" But then I never slam on the brakes at the last minute either when approaching a stop sign. Very pleased with this vehicle!!
  13. Amazingly, my 2000 RX300 has the original pads at 74,000 miles. Hard to believe, but both Lexus and my tire guy said at 70,000 they didn't need replacing yet. I've decided I'm definitely getting it done at 75,000 anyhow!! So, if you're as easy on your brakes as I am (I never come up hard to the stop sign), then you've got quite a few more miles before that expense!
  14. KNK -- I recently posted about a tear in the leather on the outside of the driver's side. The seats are covered under warranty. Report it immediately and request new leather rather than a repair. They eventually agreed to replace my seat after two repairs failed. Hope this helps! Linda C.
  15. I am very happy to report that my Lexus Dealership agreed with me today when I stated that their previous responses to my leather seat issues (using a "bandaid approach" at leather repair) were totally unacceptable. I met a different warranty administrator today. He was entirely professional (the original guy had rolled his eyes when I informed him that his first attempt at repair had failed); this gentleman even agreed when I stated that the seat should have been replaced 20,000 miles ago. He excused himself briefly, made the phone call to Headquarters and returned with good news -- approval for the seat replacement at no cost to me. Needless to say, I thanked him for his professionalism and fairness. He replied that this time I would be treated properly. My car has over 69,000 miles at this point, but as I explained in the earlier post, the complaint was lodged while under warranty. Later, my service rep. (who had gathered all the paperwork beforehand) said that Lexus wants to keep stellar customers like me who always come in for their service appt.'s at the appropriate times. By the way, the leather issue was my first complaint ever. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who responded to my earlier post. It was your encouragement that sent me down the road this morning! I decided a phone call would be worthless. My appearance at the agency was worth my change of plans for today!!! Again, thank you!! Linda
  16. Thank you all for your responses and encouragement. I plan to stop at the dealership tomorrow now that you've all energized me. I will let you know what happens! Linda
  17. I have only one complaint regarding my 2000 RX300. The leather on the driver's seat has split on the side and also shows fine split lines on the seat itself. I reported the side split before the warranty expired and the dealership made a clumsy repair which has since broken apart. Obviously the pressure from getting in and out would tear apart any liquid repair. What are the chances of my getting a replacement from the company? I know that Lexus supposedly uses a high quality leather, but I'm not convinced of this with my seat. The leather itself is paper thin! Never experienced this problem with any of my Dad's 3 Mercedes over the years -- and he kept one for 150,000 miles. Would appreciate any suggestions to remedy the situation. Thank you!! Linda
