eagleski Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 I have a 94 w/ 153K and thought that I had a hole in the pipe from the exhaust manifold, but upon examination a mechanic informs me that its the EGR valve that is producing the noise. After pricing these at $195 from Lexus !!aghh, I'm wondering if it can be conditioned or if there is an alternate resource w/ a cheaper ERG? Thoughts? THanks. eagleski Posted July 20, 2004 Author Share Posted July 20, 2004 I took it apart, cleaned it w/ carbon cleaner, reseated w/ gasket sealant, and it still makes the noise. The mechanic claimed it was coming through the hole in the EGR valve where the valve actually actuates, but I couldn't see it. It may be worth replacing after 150K but it would be nice to know if thats really the issue. I'll probably ask Lexus at some point here.
