  1. I took it apart, cleaned it w/ carbon cleaner, reseated w/ gasket sealant, and it still makes the noise. The mechanic claimed it was coming through the hole in the EGR valve where the valve actually actuates, but I couldn't see it. It may be worth replacing after 150K but it would be nice to know if thats really the issue. I'll probably ask Lexus at some point here.
  2. I have a 94 w/ 153K and thought that I had a hole in the pipe from the exhaust manifold, but upon examination a mechanic informs me that its the EGR valve that is producing the noise. After pricing these at $195 from Lexus !!aghh, I'm wondering if it can be conditioned or if there is an alternate resource w/ a cheaper ERG? Thoughts? THanks.
  3. I had the same problem w/ my 94 w/ 153K on it and after replacing the struts and the rear sway bar, the Alfa folks swear that its the bumper becoming loose. In fact the chief guy walked behind and demonstrated how he could recreate the noise. His advice was to remove and apply that foam expanding insulation and remount to remove the noise. His other comment was that the gas tank after so many years has baffles that give way and make a less audible noise as gas moves. I'm not so sure about this one, but will try the bumper insulation at some point in the near future.
