95sc5speed
Going to look at a 95 SC300 5-speed after work, wanted to ask if anyone knew of some possible problem areas to look for. It has 105k on it, looks to be in immaculate condition. A guy I work with has a 95 SC400 he bought last summer, it wasn't until the fall that he found out some heater valve was broken and a real pain in the azz to fix. Other than that I dont think he's had any real problems with the car. Thanks for any advice Jamie Anton Chicago, IL 1998 Maxima SE 5-speed (for sale?) http://www.tosinet.com/anton/maxima/
95sc5speed
Drove the SC300 yesterday... either these cars don't hold up quite like a Maxima (my car and this SC both have 105k on em) or that car had really been beat on. Sounded like it needed some motor mounts, one or both front wheel bearings were making a lot of noise, the leather-wrapped steering wheel was nearly too gross to touch... overall, a pretty nasty car. Seats and carpet were in great shape, engine and trans felt good. It just felt like it needed too much work to get back into prime shape, and definately a good amount of modification before it would feel anything like my Maxima. Not that I expected it to feel like my maxima, but it was just too loose and floaty feeling in comparison. Especially all the body roll during quick direction changes. Ah well, the SC is a nice car, just not what I'm looking for. I thought the 2 doors and RWD would hold me over until I can afford a nice used C5 Vette, but I guess not. BTW, if anyone in the Chicago area is looking to get work done on an I-6, the place I looked at this car at does mostly turbo Supra stuff. They had some INSANE Supras there, including one they had on the dyno that sounded ridiculous. Place was called Sound Performance in Bloomingdale, IL. Here's the link to the car I checked out. http://www.ebizautos.com/windycitymotorspo....cfm?iid=381940
AWJ
I would buy that thing in a hearbeat. Hang the engine and put some bushings in it. Sound Performance you say? They'll set you straight bro. I'd be all over that shiyat. Good luck.
95sc5speed
car was a lot rougher in person than in the pics online. Just needed a lot more time and money than I wanted to invest to get it where it needed to be. Lotta potential though.

95sc5speed
I'm sure for someone who has a little more money to put into it, it would be a great car. I guess with my Maxima already being right where I want it, I am just not feeling up to a project. Worst thing about it was that some panels had been repainted (most noticeable was the passenger door and rear bumper) and the color match just wasn't right. alexR
sounds like someone doesnt know how to take care of a car....with an interior like that, its only a matter of time until the motor starts acting up...if you're gonna drop 9 g's on a lexus...get something that has been taken care of religiously and driven by an older person...I picked mine up for 6k (by owner) and its in PRESTINE condition and has 120k..there are better ones out there...you would be well over 10 if you tried to piece together a new interior, let alone if you wanted to fix the paint
1Ponkte
Hey, that's not a bad price. I paid $9500.00 a year ago for a 92 5 speed with 103000+ on it. Mine had been dealer serviced according to specs and is just fine. The wallowing around when turning could be struts or possibly low air pressure in tires. Mine had some repaint work done on some panels as well. The guy showed me the car unwashed and I missed it. Mine is the white pearl and that is an expensive repaint. However, it looks good at 15 feet so I'm not going to worry for a time. Struts and mtr. mounts aren't that expensive and, like someone mentioned, 5 speeds are rare. Remember, it says "asking price" in the ad. Lowball them an offer. You never can tell. Good luck. The SC's are nice cars.
95sc5speed
hopefully someone who appreciates the rareness of the 5-speed picks it up. My 98 Maxima 5-speed is rare enough, took me about 3 months of searching to find it. Indeed, if I was gonna drop some cash on an SC, I would definately hold out and find some one-owner old person car. My GF's 95 Maxima has 119k on it, and it's in almost perfect shape. Bought it last March with 53k on it, some old guy traded it in, had it since new. It's all about how well the last guy treated the car, and whoever last had that red SC, he didn't treat it too well. As nice as SC's are, I still think I'm gonna hold out for a used C5 in a year or so. Thanks for all the replies, guys.
