Megs Plastic X Inside?

My parents just purchased a new-to-them 02 LX 470 (I want one, I want one, I want one!!). While it is in wonderful condition, there are some very small, light scratches on the plastic base of the gear selector (the plastic that covers the "P, R, N, etc." labels for the selector). I was wondering if Plastic X would be too harsh of a product to use to take those small scratches out or if I should use something lighter? Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
