Ambgx470 Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Just bought a 2008 gx470 and started experiencing what I think is the clunk TSB issue. (Have read the sticky). My question is: Why would it be the drive shaft, if jerk/bang is felt when the vehicle is stopped/ideling at a traffic light? I can understand if the vehicle was about to be set in motion. Can someone explain?
RX400h Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 At least one person claims to fix the issue by cleaning and lubricating the drive shaft splines. The Car wizard has some good advice and shows the undercarriage of a Toyota version (maybe not your issue but good advice, nonetheless) Another person replies with this statement: Quote Best thing you can do is replace the driveshaft with the new part number which was designed for this fix. There is a TSB on it. Shaft is rather inexpensive, about $350 shipped.
