  1. Get the Black and put a clear film over the hood and bumper. It will stay nice for a llong time.
  2. in photoshop, you can duplicate the layer, desaturize the copied layer and just start erasing the tail lights on the colored layer to bring out the desaturized layer... it will look smoke. ← Look here if you want to see the real thing. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...29&page=3&pp=15
  3. It's prewired, but does not come with the radio itself. It is a pretty large unit. I had mine installed by the dealer $900 with the antenna under the rear deck lid. Nothing shows works great.
  4. Please post pix of your LEX. I have a 98 so I wont post, But I would like to see the 06. ← If you want to see pics go here: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154929
  5. On the ClubLexus forums it was mentioned that someone had disabled the DVD lock in motion by removing a wire on the back of the DVD player. I don't think any dealer would do it for legal reasons.
  6. thats not loading properly for me - the page loads, but not the image :( ← How about this
  7. thats not loading properly for me - the page loads, but not the image :( ← Here is a Word doc with the picture. The bottom pic is the factory grill. GS4300_Mess_Grill.doc
  8. Here is one website that carries the wheels. I have seen four of the 18" spider wheels for $999 approx.. http://www.lexus-parts.com/partlist.asp?Su...=19&ModelID=125
  9. this one? its a TTE sports grill you can get it unpainted from L-TunedParts - $369 ← Here is the mess grill for the 2006 GS430, looks good. http://www.lextasy.com/gs-race-mesh.htm
  10. The GS430 comes with run flat tires. Anyone have experience with these? Are they hard, is the bump transmission harsh into the cabin? ← ← My MB dealer was trying to sell me one also, gave me one to drive around for a day. You are right even the radio couldn't pick up the stations my honda mini van could. I have had 6 MB's, but the new ones are JUNK. Should have keep my old one they were like iron.
  11. when i bought my 02 300 bout 3 weeks ago i was talking to the salesman and he said the run flats make the ride not so nice as to regular tires i guess..he said that was the only thing he didnt like cause i guess you can feel it i wouldnt know i never drove one just at work and i wasnt even paying attention lol..i want a 430 so bad not the 06 though i dont like the new body...i love this car though its my second car and i cant be more happier with it..its fast for me cause im used to a volvo but i would like a gs430...my next lexus is gonna be a LS430...i could go on for days bout my car but i wont lol... ← Wait a year and the LS is changing completely and there will be a hybrid version. I also heard rumors of a V12
  12. Talked to my dealer and you can get DVD screens put into the headrests for playing movies to the back passengers. I think I will get these. I did have a concern about the run flats, but I can change them when they get worn to something less noisey and add a spare.
  13. I ordered a 2006 GS430 Black/Chasmere, how do you like it? Does the 430 require 91 octane? Do you have XM Sat Radio? Are the run flat tires harsh on the ride?
  14. I did, but when I took a second look at the materials inside I was disappointed with the quality for $52K. The plastics on the doors and console was not compatable with the price. I didn't like the aluminum and the lack of luxory features such as keyless entry, electric shocks, XM Sat radio. All these things I got in the GS430 for just a few K's more. The mileage on the 400h was not what I expected, the V8 GS430 gets 25MPG on the highway which is where I travel most and the average on the 400h is just 27. The bottom line is that I felt the GS430 was a better buy for the money.
  15. The GS430 comes with run flat tires. Anyone have experience with these? Are they hard, is the bump transmission harsh into the cabin?
  16. Any positives or negatives on this vehicle? The test drive was supurb. The car comes with much more than a Mercedes which is at a much higher price. The fit and finish is very good. This is my first Lexus, I have had 6 MB's, 3 BMW's, and a Jaguar or two. The MB's quality has gone to crap and I don't like the look of the new BMW's. Let me know what you guys think of the new GS430, with the spider wheels. Performance_all.doc
  17. It takes more energy to produce the aluminum than a replaceable resource like wood from a tree farm. Almost all decortive wood these days is grown and replaced just for this purpose. The plastic parts they put in the 400h are even worse on the environment.
  18. I would disagree with you on that point, I think most people who are considering hybrids in general rank the decision criteria you'd mentioned in this order: power, fuel economy, luxury. And those considering the 400h specifically probably rank them as: power, luxury, fuel economy. Be honest, if the 400h didn't have the "neck snapping" 650 lb-ft of torque, would you have bought it ? ← Yes, because we wanted our next vehicle to be (in this order) Reliable Economical Tall Powerful If power were number one, we's have bought an SUV long ago. Remember, no SUV Lexus has ever introduced has generated the excitement that the 400h has generated. More power with lower gas milage would not have been nearly as popular as having both in one vehicle. ← The bottom line is are you getting your money worth. I think for this kind of money Lexus could put leather on the doors and better materials on the console. My Honda mini van has leather and a nav system for under $30K with nice leather on the doors.
  19. But the bottom line is that Lexus is a "luxury" brand and all products under this brand should come up to luxury standards. The 400h at $50K should have higher quality materials than even the RX330.
  20. Too bad the "tree huggers" don't realize that it takes more energy to make the aluminum than a it takes to grow a hybrid tree on a tree farm for accent.
  21. After my second test drive I noticed that the materials inside are not of high quality. Of course the fit and finish is very good, but the materials are not. I drove a black interior 400h and the doors panels have plastic in them instead of leather. My Honda mini van has leather in the door panels. The plastics on the center console does not come up to what the price should dictate. I ordered a GS430 that looks like it is worth what I will pay for it. I was going to put wood in the 400h and add some after market items to spruce it up, but the GS430 comes with everything I want and it is only a about 9K more with a V8. The V6 is less expensive than the 400h. Sorry guys, I wish the 400h came up to more luxorous standards.
  22. I just ordered a GS430 Black/chasmere and am looking forward to driving it. What does the manual say about gas octane? I have had MB's in the past, but their quality is gone and their price has skyrocketed. They are NOT worth the money. The BMW's new look doesn't soot me.
  23. Just got this letter from my dealer. They received this warning for all RX400h owners saying don't change the wheels on this vehicle. They even took the 10 spoke wheels off the accessory page on the Lexus website. Check out this MS Doc file.
  24. The steering wheel is not heated, he is busting your chops. Wood trim option will appear as soon as they pay for all the aluminum they ordered. ← Remember that this car has to run on electric alone for some of the time. With a electric heater in the steering wheel the batteries wouldn't last long at all.
  25. Sure here are some links, just go into Google and say "wood dash kits". http://www.wooddashfactory.com/pages/order...?partno=1529X52 http://www.wooddash.com/category/LEXUS_Dash_Kits
