  1. Well - we just got bit by the RX300 transmission bug too. $4200 to replace the transmission on my daughters 2000 rx300. Had symptoms similar to all the posts in here and then finally just started going to 4500 rpms at 20 mph and eventually died. the first sign was the difficulty going in reverse - it was only a week later when it was done. It has 135K miles so I cant complain too much but it still hurts.
  2. My daughters car was doing the same thing. We replaced the struts and boots and no more rattle. It was a $900 fix. the car rides better though.
  3. Thanks - I did take it apart and drain the fluid, sprayed it out with the appropriate spray and nylon brushes, reassembled it and put it back together. The screws were a pain and I did strip 2 of them but got them out and replaced. the gasket seemed fine so I reused it also. I was just wondering when I replace it, if I need to recalibrate anything. Also, should I replace the IACV and throttle body or just IACV? Thanks.
  4. I followed the instruction in the sticky post and cleaned the IACV on my daughters 99 RX300. Worked great for a few days now it's dropping low rpms and stalling again. I figured I'll just change the IACV this time at $280.00 for the part. Anything I need to watch out for, or can I just plug and play the old for the new?
  5. Does anyone have any good sources for brakes and rotors? My daughter's lexus has 130K miles and needs new rotors and brakes and new rear struts (probably have the shop do these).
  6. My daughter's home from college and her 99 RX300 is making a thumping noise from the right rear wheel area. It almost sounds like something is loose in the rear compartment but after a thorough check, everything seems to be secured pretty well. Any ideas or thoughts on what might cause this? There isnt any problem with the ride. Could it be the struts or boot? BTW - great site - I cleaned her IACV and throttle body last night using the directions from this site!
  7. great instructions! I did this last night. The screws were way tight and I did strip 3 but finally got them out. Replaced them and got it all back together in 2 hrs.
