  1. I went to clean my A/C filter on my IS250 '09 and I broke something off like a latch to the filter. It's a pretty big plastic gear and it looks like it may have kept the enclosure of the filter locked. Came from the left side of the air filter. Does anyone know if that's important? :P I tried to see where it broke off but its dark. So, I just left it out. Silly me forgot to change the air circulation to circulate all around, which is probably the lock that broke off. If it is important, I'll try to super glue it back on.
  2. I have experienced St. Paul, MN winters with RWD, FWD and AWD cars and best performers I have had are AWD (Mitsubishi Eclipse, Subaru WRX and 2006 Legacy GT) all with Bridgestone Blizzaks all around--I recommend Blizzaks for handling snow and some ice. The AWD cars accelerate wonderfully in snow (I used to have a blast with stop light "drag racing" Corvettes and other muscle cars in the snow) and don't get stuck (within reason) but stopping and turning of course can still be a problem. So depending on how steep your driveway is AWD will help (which other cars have managed your driveway by the way?). I would appreciate advice from other IS350 drivers regarding winter driving with this car. This is my first winter with 2007 CPO IS-350 which came with set of Michelin Alpin winter tires. With one 50 pound bag of salt in trunk I had hoped for better traction and handling in snow with snow tires mounted. However it seems IS350 power upsets balance of car in snow such that traction is very difficult to obtain. I use SNOW setting and find TRAC control unpredictably killing power in snow very nervewracking so I turn TRAC and VSC off and drive carefully managing tire spin. Would appreciate additional tips from those experienced in driving IS350 in snow regarding what else I can do to at least make the best of situation--should I add more weight in trunk to gain traction or what?? Thankyou, Dennis I live in St. Paul too but I have IS250 AWD. I just leave it in the garage and use my beater for the winter. You should how much damage the salt has done to my beater. Last year, I think they used a lot more salt.
  3. I have a minor scratch on the front right rim of my IS250 '09 from being too close to the curb. It is about an inch in length and merely a scrape. It's a bit noticeable like a speck of mud on the rim from afar. What can I do to fix it? Or clean it up? Recommendations of products? Thanks
  4. I have one on my '09 IS250. Its great! Most the bugs get hit by the bra and its pretty easy to clean off. Most people I ask did not notice the bra on it. However, I think it might be more visible later on. Less than a year and I started noticing a bit of peeling and some bubbles under the bra. Not very noticeable unless you are doing some detail cleaning. Given time, I think it show.... When I put wax on it, the leftover wax tends to get cluttered on the edges of the bra so its more white and visible. But once you do detail cleaning (exhausting!) it should be fine. I should probably get some car tape and then apply the wax but I'm too lazy to get tape :) Anyways, I think the bra is a good deal but its not perfect. Just like taping a book together...eventually that tape will wear off. I'm happy with the investment :)
  5. I noticed a small scratch on the side of my car. It wasn't deep...more like a simple paper cut to my car. Really hard to notice but my cousin decided to use a touch up basecoat paint pen on it and it made it worse. Now, it looks like a smudge. Like someone took a simple marker and squiggle on it :o I don't want to make it any worse. What should I do? I don't know much about paints and I refuse to let my cousin do anything more to it. Lexus IS250 '09 (Smoky Granite Metallic)
  6. I recently got IS250 '09 w/ premium package and w/o navigation, AWD, added clear bra, and no warranty. The navigation is throwing me off on your price. Of course they would want you to buy the car with navigation. I would wait and see if they'll lower the price. I bought mine only because my brother in law was buying too. So, we got a bargain for buying 2.
  7. Now that I think about it...painting the brake calipers would void my warranty, wouldn't it?
  8. I am going to paint the Brake Calipers on my IS250 '09. The car is Smoky Granite Mica with black interior. Should I make it Yellow, Blue, or Red? If my car was black, I would automatically choose red. Anyways, I would like to hear your thoughts.
  9. Should I get a car cover for my IS 250 '09? Pretty much I will only use the car on the weekends and it will be parked in a garage full of junk. I probably will try to resist driving in the Winter. They put too much salt on the roads where I live! Also, how often would you suggest that I wash my car? I got sort of lazy on my old car (98 nissan altima) and its rusting. I don't want that to happen again. But I didn't really care so much about my altima because it was degrading in so many ways.
  10. I found out about that feature in my book. I like it too! But is there a way to close them all at the same time? I hate having to press all the buttons individually to close them.
