  1. For real...dude...jaswood, why did you come on here if you don't like the advice people are taking OUT OF THEIR TIME to answer your stupid question?!?
  2. So I am at about 185K and need to re do the timing belt and supporting parts. I understand AISIN is a supplier to Toyota but does anyone know anything about GMB parts? They're way cheaper but i realize i pay for what i get too....looking for some feed back or comments on GMB, KoYo tensioners/bearings...etc. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I know i am late to this party....but if i were to clamp on it in the general area where your finger is, while the mechanism is in the upward position, where should I clamp from? e.g. from the window side?
  4. thanks for that, just wanted to be certain as most posts indicate movement issues.. I'm ordering the part now.. if anyone else is interested.... i found this site .. the cost for air mix servo is $152.00 with free shipping..@ www.mylexparts.com. I'll update after installation. thanks. Was wondering of an update? I am still on the fence if i break down and buy the servos before i tear it all apart, or just try cleaning/readjusting the mechanicals....
  5. I have them in my wifes RX300 and they are awesome! I want to get them for my Tundra cause they are so great!
  6. I noticed that the drivers side headlight bulb burnt out on my 2000 RX300. I went to AutoZone and purchased a new one and installed it and it works fine. My question is how do I replace the outer most bulb in that same lens? Do I need to go up into the wheel well? Do i disconnect the fuse box (drivers side) and get into the fender that way to access this bulb that shares the headlight lens. This is NOT the marker lights on the sides of the bumper cover....rather located in with the headlight. It is the OUTER MOST bulb. Thanks
  7. So one of the features that I really like about my RX is it's ability to click the window switch button and it'll go down w/o me having to hold it. It does the same with the window going upward, one pull and boom it's going up. I like that you can control all windows like this from the drivers door as well as each individual window with its respective window. My question is this....is the ability for this to happen a function of the switch itself or the cars computer system? This switch seems to physically be identical to the window switch in my 2007 Tundra p/u and I was wondering if i ordered the RX switch for the tundra, if it'd work the same? Thanks
  8. The side panel on my drivers side started cracking and looking crappy. I think the cover for the seat pan alone from the stealership (hold your breath) was nearly $900 USD!!! I wound up taking it to a local upholstery place and paid $250 to have it disassembled repaired with a new panel and re-installed. It doesn't look bad at all either. It is the beige leather on a 2000 RX300. Good luck!
  9. HAHAHA...no silly. It is behind the air bag under the steering wheel.
  10. Or you can just buy the motor that cost $4.97 and a mini RC gear puller and fix it yourself.
  11. haha you are right.. that solved the vacuum line issue.. working on the coolant hoses now . never worked on my car before.. so its an experience in itself! as long as it dont blow up or something when i goto start it i suppose.. thx a ton! Why did you remove all that stuff? I worked around the plenum, though i did remove the air box boot. And i needed to remove the EGR valve on the passengers side near the firewall. Anyway, the whole job, w/o removing the plenum took 3 hours and i am not a mechanic.
  12. I thought this too....so i got Denso's...when i did the job (w/o removal of the plenum) and removed the original plugs, they were NGK's. I did my first plug job at 120,000 and they looked just a nice as the new plugs. No deterioration whatsoever!
  13. What is the vehicle model and model year?
  14. I had a Lexus mechanic do mine @ 94,000 on-the-side for $505, including the water pump. I asked him for my old parts and to be honest they looked brand new too! The quality of these parts is amazing. I may elect to rebuild my own water pump by replacing the bearing and the seal, as that is what fails! In terms of how my old belt looked....it looked great! I too had buyers remose especially after reading how many vehicles were in their upper 100K miles on it w/o replacing it yet. But that is a gamble because this is a full interference engine and will be ruined if the belt snaps and the valves smash down on the pistons. Dom
  15. This is definitely the case!!! When the sensor fails, the engine advances it's timing to protect itself from detonation. I'm currently having the same P0330 code come on my 2000 RX300, I erase it and it comes back shortly thereafter. When this happens the car rev's to 4000 @ 60MPH. I was told to not only replace the faulty sensor, but replace the other one too and ENSURE that Denso sensors were used along with a new wire harness. You'll need two intake manifold gaskets as well as a new plenum gasket. Anyway, I am going to be doing mine this Friday. Good luck to you! Dom
  16. The issue may be that you are using platinum plugs, hopefully not Bosch...they are crap....The correct plug is either Ngk or denso iridium plugs which will last an easy 125k miles....The other thing that can be happeningis that moisture is getting in the plug hole...I would use dielectric grease on the rubber boot that contacts the plug. i have pulled my plugs at 125k and have zero corrosion and the [plugs looked like new. The coils will fail if there is corrosion which can cause arcing. After 120,000 miles I replaced my plugs. They were the original NGK Iridium plugs that looked like they had NO wear!!! I couldn't believe it. I think your problem also is the fact you didn't use an OE type of plug despite the fact that the fittment is the same, e.g. plug length and thread size. I replaced my plugs with the Denso's and have had no problems. Also, I thought as a general rule of thumb to replace ALL the ignition coils at once as a PM type of thing.
  17. I think replacing the door actuator mini motors fixed my problem of my lights illuminating when i press the key FOB.
  18. Nope....I just got a pump/motor for the Highlander (P/N 85330-20470) from toyotapartszone.com for $39.30 :) . That identical P/N on the Lexus web site was more expensive . That should fix it... Thanks!
  19. Hi, The wiper fluid stopped squirting out, so I filled the reservoir, but came to find out that it was basically filled. Do the pumps in these vehicles (2000 RX300) go bad? Could it be a fuse? If so, where is the fuse located? I appreciate any help i can get. Thanks, Dom
  20. thx file horse. i read that the air/mix servo may be the culprit. Now all I would need is the P/N.... I have been getting the clicking behind the glove box for years now....and kinda just turned the stereo up....so i may replace all of them... thx again!
  21. Have her try MAX heat after the engine warms up and report back. She did adnd it didn't work. I had her do all the combinations with the A/C on then heat max then changed the mode selector ....ugh....I read about some air/mix servo that could be impeding one of the doors/diverters not opening....
  22. Hi, My wife has been telling me that she has no cabin heat in the mornings and now with winter around the corner I'd like to fix that problem. The car has about 125K on it. I was going to just replace the thermostat but the cluster temp gauge indicates normal engine temperature. I have had her mess with the different modes, put it on A/C then raise the temp to warm and it just stays cold. Anyone have this problem? Please help!!! thx
  23. I wound up paying a little more for an O.E.M. torque strut from Lexus. It just made me feel more comfortable considering my experiences with aftermarket mounts...thx again.
