Dealership service dept told me a code 71 could possibly be a dirty egr vacuum modulator filter. I made a homemade filter (as described above), cleared the codes, and the code 71 has not come back (knock on wood).

Intermit. check eng light over the past few weeks. Ran diagnostics today. Had code 25 (air/fuel mixture lean). Couldn't find anything here when I searched. Anyone ever had this? Bad O2 sensors? Thanks.

Needed tires for my LS. I researched on tirerack and on this site. Decided on the Toyo Proxes TPT (205 65 15 / 94V). Put them on yesterday. So far so good. Smooth and quiet. Good luck.
Michael,
My dealership wanted 1100$ for a new sensor + labor. I found a used one for 225$ on-line and did it myself.

Good luck.
I had your symptoms last week on my 92 and had a 31 code. Replaced the Airflow meter and she's back to normal. Not sure how your other codes are related.
FYI. ECU tec parts out of Orlando was helpful in finding my part. Worth trying them if you need any electronic components. 1-877-312-8832.
Thanks to all that provided info to me.
Just came back from the dealership. Popped code 31. Airflow sensor (meter) is apparently bad. 1100$ for the part. Checking some salvage yards ASAP. Anyone else have any insight or advice?
It's the 3"x4" black plastic piece that sits on top of the air intake tubing about 1 ft before the air filter. It has an electrical line connected to the side. When you remove the 3 screws and pop it off, it has a cylindrical sensor that hangs in the tubing. Is that the MAF?
My dealership is telling me that I need a new airflow filter. (Codes 24 and 31). Check eng light is on with cutout at low RPM. Over 1000$ just for the part. Anyone have any experience with this part or have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Muragrove,
Had my '92 LS400 fixed today at my dealership. Had a check eng light with intermit. engine cutoff at low RPM. Diagnostics showed code 25. (My dealership does free diagnostics). They replaced the front O2 sensor on the right side (Our cars have 4 total - 1 fore and 1 aft each of the two CATs. Total cost 240 - 190part / 50 labor. Car is back to her old happy self.
Good Luck.
JPI,
Found a few in the yellow pages, but thought the LOC might have a tool to find a trustworthy one. I'm new to this forum, so thought I'd try to tap into the resident knowledge.
