Yes, I went thru the same thing on my 06 LX. You can use the log with outgoing and incoming calls to add to one touch, but then you will only have the number shown, no name. I tried several phones till I found some that worked good for transfer. The phone does not need to be active. So if you can transfer your phone contacts by computor or have a cell phone company do it for you, you can get one from e-bay or somewhere else and just use it for that if you don't want to change phones. You can go to the Lexus site and find a list of phones that will work with your vehicle and cell provider. I have Verizon, so were a lot of them that did not work. I ended up with a MotoW755 for the wife and a Blackberry Curve for my self. Both of these worked for me. That way I have both my contacts and the wife's in there in phone book 1 & 2.

I have a 06 LX470 with generation 4 navigation unit. I have given up on making the hybrid DVD with 5.1 & 8.1 map versions after several failed attempts. I haven't seen where anyone else has been successful with this combination on the Gen 4 and 8.1. If I'm wrong, please let me know. I have the Ultimate Lockpick 1 installed and it works great with the 5.1 but will not work with the 8.1 version. The blue tooth and he DVD bypass will still work, but not the destination bypass. So I would like to install a switch in the SPD wire and bypass the Destination. The tech from coastaltech mentioned that he thought that they had built a timer into the 8.1 so that even with a switch, it will only bypass the destination for a few seconds. Has anyone tried this to see if it works? I have the wiring diagram. Would someone with more experience please take a look at this and see what wire I should try. I think it's the violet wire that runs from connector J27 (from the Navigation ECU on page 3) to a relay by connector J18 (by Combination Meter on page 9). If this is right I will give it a try. I was having the same problem. Lowered the bass on system and improved the sound a lot on my end. I haven't had any complaints from other end and I have asked several people. Just a thought. I may be wrong, but I wouldn't think the phone should have that much effect. All audio is thru speaker and mic in car, not the phone, I think. But I've been wrong before.

Thanks, and I'm afraid you are right. I am by no means a computor guru. I build all my own computors myself for my company. We have 16 total. I understand all the hardware, I am an electronics technician. But when it comes to reconfiguring the software, that's way beyond my comfort zone. The 5.1/7.1 - 8.1 gives me an idea. maybe if I go up one version at a time and see what happens. Will just have to get the two loading.kwi's I don't have. Since I own the 5.1 & 8.1 and that what I want to end up with, that might be worth a try. I've read here where some have locked up their system, but wouldn't rebooting (killing power) and reload with a factory disc at least get it back working. Or am I playing around in a place I may be sorry I have ventured. I wish I knew more about the programing. But the last time I did any programing was when I was just starting out in instrumentation back in the 70's. And that was ladder logic then and that a place I don't care to go back to. That was old school programing. I'm showing my age here. Thanks for the help and advice. And I'm still open for any other ideas. Since I have the lockpick installed, that gives me full access to my bluetooth phone functions and DVD. But loose the destination once I go above the 5.1, but I keep the phone working. So the only other thing I need is access to the destinations. So I may just have to consider the wire hack on the speed wire to the nav unit. Was hoping to not have to do that one because of the possible warranty issue.
