  1. I know people are making fun of this guy for using Broken Into and not Broken In... but he does have a point. Cars do drive much better after a certain amount of miles. And what did you say about the 1000 mile mark? I'm pretty sure the car is not broken in until the first oil change(~3000-3500 miles). And by breaking in a car I mean not revving higher than 4000 to 4500 RPM.

  2. Thanks for the response guys. I'm starting to think that the transmission was slipping on 2nd gear, because i can feel the hesitation (hiccups) every time i accelerate into 2nd gear.

    Sorry, one more question guys. The curve bump that sticks out on the gas pedal side where you can rest your right leg on, it gets kind of hot at times, is that normal?

    I don't rest my leg on that part so I don't know if it gets hot... but the only reason it would be hot is from transmission which probably isn't normal considering that there is a transmission fluid to keep it cool.

  3. what I don't understand is why they didn't just put a regular manual in the high end model(350). I mean if they wanna it make it powerful why not make it fun to drive as well? One other problem I have with the auto is that they give you these paddles to give u an impression of it being a racer but it really has the slowest shifts ever - the response is terrible in S mode. There is only one solution to this - put in a dual-clutch transmission instead of a regular auto. Like VW did with DSG...they have a similar system on the ISF so they need to put that on the regular models as well. But yeah the ECT switch is great, turns the car into what it is supposed to be.

  4. Completely normal, get used to it, it's a Lexus. It's their way of making the acceleration slower, to save gas. They use electricity to control the response from the pedal to the engine instead of hydraulics so it's really slow and can be frustrating at times when u need acceleration. There are only two ways to solve this problem - Use the S mode and change gears manually or Turn on the PWR button. The power botton is right behind the steering wheel on the right, it's a switch right next to the traction control, once you switch it on a green light will come on. It makes the pedal more responsive but can also decrease your fuel economy if you're not careful. I usually use it around town and then switch it off when I'm on the highway and just want to maintain a certain speed. Hope that helps.

  5. I have an 08 IS 250AWD and I'm getting ridiculously uneven brake pad wear on my car. The front wheels are darker than gun metal right now and the rear look almost like new. It seems like my rear pads are not working....maybe not as hard as they should be. I have ~2500 miles on the car and I don't want to have any issues with it down the road.

    I searched on this forum for the same issue and the only good thread I found says that supposedly the brake pads are faulty and make a lot of brake dust and that 06 and 07 models are covered for this and that it's only a matter of swapping to different brake pads. I only read the first page because the rest went completely off-topic so I'm sorry if I missed the answer. But I was a bit unsure if that was the problem with my car since my brake pads are only excessive in the front and not the rear.

    I never did my 1000 mile service. Can I still go and ask for it, or I am too late?
