  1. I agree, they are different vehicles. I owned a '04 RX & hated it but love the GX. The RX felt & drove like a car. Just parking the two in the same garage space, the GX is larger. The GX was the answer to all the things I didn't like about the RX. It sits up higher, accelerates better, & handles towing better. I couldn't tell much of a difference in the interior room. The 3rd seats are in the garage. It all depends on what you like. You should buy the one you love! It makes the expensive payments easier! :)
  2. I love driving my GX but have had a few problems.
  3. I can certainly sympathize with mbenza. I too have had a disappointing & frustrating experience with Lexus & the service dept. My 1st Lexus was a new 2004 RX330. It was truly a lemon. I had a 3 ring binder full of service documents & unresolved issues. After a few negative surveys & compaints to Lexus customer service, Lexus stopped sending me surveys. Looking back, I should have had Lexus buy back the vehicle under Lemon law. It was just easier to trade it in. In 2005, I traded for an '06 GX470. Although I am happy with the GX, I have had a few problems. In my opinion, the service dept in Tampa continues to be of poor quality. You may read my post under "Florida Dealers". I never get follow up calls or surveys. I've never kept a vehicle past 35,000 miles. Although I am a diehard Lexus fan & love the line, I have had more trouble with the RX & GX than any other vehicle I have ever owned. (Including a Jeep Grand Cherokee) I like Lexus & believe they build a quality vehicle. I also believe, like most brands, sometimes they let a few lemons in. It is great that people have a positive experience with their Lexus but it is heartbreaking when you get a bad one!!! My GX goes in for repairs next week...wish me luck! Oh...Bob, posting a negative experience doesn't make someone a troll! Very immature!
  4. Problems with Lexus of Tampa Bay Service Dept! March '03 - Purchased a 2004 RX330. Vehicle was a new model & had MULTIPLE "bugs". Lost count of how many times vehicle was in for problems. Techs ignored complaints. Turned in multiple times for same complaints. For example: roof rattle at 60 MPH (sounded like something was beating top of vehicle). Was told could not fix because they could not get vehicle up to 60 MPH to "reproduce noise". After complaining to dealer manager....the rear spoiler was loose. Simple Fix!! Most complaints were simple adjustments but took manager involvement & multiple trips to dealer. Some complaints were never addressed. "Lexus knows about the problem but there is no solution right now, we'll call you." Of course, they never called. Most solutions for the problems I found online through forums like this. I would print the forum pages for proof but it still took major assertiveness & alot of time. Rear end clunk & general rattles continued to get worse over time. We rarely drove the vehicle due to the high frustration level! We finally traded the vehicle after 33 months & barely 20,000 miles. I am so sorry for the person who bought that Lemon!! I decided to try another Lexus due to the positive reputation for quality. Traded for a new '06 GX470. I have had very few problems & have enjoyed the vehicle very much. Quality is as expected from a Lexus. The service dept quality has not improved. The only major problem I have had with the GX is vibration at 65 MPH. Didn't notice on test drive but noticed immediately during drive home on interstate. I reported the problem immediately but it took 17,000 miles, 4 trips to the dealer, & my refusal to pick up the vehicle without a fix for them to resolve the issue. Once again I heard the excuse, "Because of where we are located, we cannot get the vehicle up to 65 MPH". Each time they told me the GX needed an alignment & tried to charge me for work not covered under warranty. After a heated & long debate, a simple test was performed. They put the car on the rack & tested it at 65 MPH. The Michelin tires were all defective. They changed them without charge & no vibration since. The last time I had service, I waited an hour before they checked me in. My advisor was involved with another customer that "took longer than expected". I kept asking others for help but they stated only my scheduled advisor could help me. After 1 hour of sitting in my car in the drop off area, I lost my patience & went to management. In short, the dealership is easy & pleasant unless you have issues with the vehicle. Be prepared to stand your ground & be assertive. I am calm mannered & they are too quick to ignore my complaints. The service advisors can be a bit arrogant & apprear aggitated. I have never seen a single one of them smile. However, for all the times I have been without my vehicle, they have provided me with another Lexus for transportation. The dealership is clean & comfortable. Even though I love the GX, my next trade will not be with Lexus due to service issues.
  5. My 65 MPH vibration turned out to be bad tires. Michelin tires were defective. I noticied vibration immediatey after delivery of new vehicle. Took Tampa dealer 17,000 miles, 4 trips, & my refusal to pick up vehicle to find problem. They kept trying alignment at my expense. Problem went away immediately after mounting new tires. I have 29,000 miles now. No vibration.
  6. :( No success here for my "06. Have tried Motorola from T-mobile & now Iphone for AT&T. Cannot even add manually. I finally gave up!
  7. <_< I have an '06 GX470. My previous phone worked great. The iphone is "jail broke". It has an annoying, extremely loud tone before each call is started. Also, cannot get phonebook to transfer & hear additional background noises. Not satisfied with the quality of calls. Didn't notice a problem before I "jail broke" the phone. But could be wrong. All of my calls do go through the speakers.
