  1. Thanks, Krazy! What about the used keys they sell on Ebay?

I need a key REALLY BAD and wanted to know if I purchase the key with the same FCC ID I have on my current key, can I just program that key to work in my car? Does it matter how the key is "cut"? Any help/suggestions/concerns are welcomed. Thanks!

I bought an uncut key on Ebay, then had it cut and programmed at Lexus. I had no problems with it but keep in mind that buying items on the irternet sometimes are a hit or miss.

    Good Luck!

  2. I have a 1996 GS. I only have one key. My key's case with the "L" on it is broken and taped together to keep it from coming apart. Does anyone know where I can get a Lexus key for a cheap price? Lexus wants $150 and then another $80-$90 to program. Please tell me where I can buy a key and avoid paying $150. Also, how do I program the key myself? Please help. Thanks!

  3. I am a 1996 GS owner and I LOVE IT! Anyway, I wanted to know if you had a choice between a 2003 - 2004 BMW 745 (Li or L) and a 2003 - 2004 Lexus LS, what would you pick and why? I am having trouble deciding because I love both cars! I know I am posting this in the LS forum and the answers may be a little biased. Thanks!

  5. I have a clear fluid (almost like a clear oil) leaking from the front of the car. What could it be? It is towards the front of the car towards the front bumper. I also have a small whining noise coming from the front, driver's side of the engine. The car doesn't seem to drive any different. Please HELP! If you know what it is, how can I fix it? I have a 1996 GS. Thanks!

Please HELP! Thanks! I have a 1996 GS.

  6. I have a pair of the Enkei Aegis. The clearcoat on 2 of my wheels has started to peel off. If anyone know what it looks like, it looks like dried up "water marks" on the wheel. It is a 3 piece wheel. The only part of the wheel this has happened to is the lip. My question is, how can I re-polish my wheel lips myself to get the polished look back? Please Help!

I have tried wheel polish, chrome polish, wax and nothing has worked thus far!

  7. DO not put the IS300 wheels on your GS300 1st Gen.  I have owned the first gen gs300 and can tell you that the IS300 wheel is too narrow for your car.  The IS300 wheel is only 7 inches wide and the result is that the wheels will look too far sunken in.  The stock GS300 wheels were 7.5 inches wide.

The wheel you should get for stock to stock exchange is the GS430/400 wheel 17 inch 5 star wheel.

It is the one that also looks very much like the IS300 wheel, but is 17x8 (8 inch wide wheel).  This wheel will not only look better on your car, but it will give your car a more aggressive stance and drastically improve yourhandling.

You can find these wheels for fairly cheap these days.  I have seen them go for as low as $500 with good tires on them.  Average price is probably closer to $800 for a decent set with good tires.

I say this from experience as I had the 2nd gen GS430 wheels on my 1st Gen GS300 and it looked great.  I also currently own IS300 wheels on my wifes current ES300.  Now I have 2006 GS430 wheels on my GS400.

So please consider it for what its worth, but do not get the IS300 wheels for your car, its a poor match.

    peace

I am looking to see a 1st Gen GS with the IS wheels on it.  I am thinking of putting some on my car.  Anyone have any pics?  Thanks!

    Check your PM!

  8. First go buy some Meguiars Paint cleaner aka step1 and see if that will help to remove just the clearcoat. Then when you get it how you want it, clean the surface with grease and oil remover, you should also do this before the meguiars. buy some decent clearcoat in a can and spray on light coats until you get what you're looking for. I'd also check with some local paint shops for estimates as it may be cheap enough to let them do it. <_<

    Turbo,

Are you saying this from experience? You know when the clearcoat has come off a wheel it looks like dried up water on your wheel that will not come off. So with that, I can do what you stated above? Let me know. :D

The dried up water look is just oxidation, the meguiars will help remove that. What have you got to lose? <_<

So, do the steps you stated above?

Well, the paint remover did not work. Anyone have any more suggestions? Please Help! Again, the lip of 2 of my wheels looks as if the clear coat has come off. The wheel lip is polished. It looks like "dried water" marks all around the lip that will not wipe off. What can I do?
