  1. I just recently took my car into the dealer and had them do my 5000 mile service and it was dont for free. I got my car back and noticed that there was a little hair pin scratch on my bumper and so I told my service advisor. They have scheduled an appointment for me to return my car next week to have the whole rear bumper changed brand new. I am a do it myself guy and I understand that the dealerships always tries to charge alot of money but when it comes to my car I always try to have things done the right way. I have had too many incidents where my car has been serviced in the wrong way and had the pay even more. For example, I have a Lexus LX470 and the car has hydrolic suspensions and because some dumb idiot at the oil change place decided to try to help me out because my hydrolic fluid level was low, so he poured transmission oil into the hydrolic tank without my consent. After taking my car home, 6 months later the suspension was busted, the shocks locked up and did not work so I had to deal with the car bouncing all over the road. Now I am still saving money to have my car fixed because its gonna cost me a few thousand to have the whole system changed out. I was now quoted $8,000 at the dealer and when I went back to the guy and told him that he told me he never poured anything into the Hydrolic System. All I am saying is that hey you spent 40k on the purchase of your car and if you want to keep the car for long term and have the peace of mind that your car is well taken care of then let the people at the dealer take care of your car. if something does go wrong then they will have the common courtesy to hekp you out. But to be honest changing the oil on a toyota is not hard at all, so why not learn it, so you know exactly what goes into the car. I hope this helps!
  2. In my opinion I would first try to touch up the hood first. If that does not make you happy then get it fixed by the body shop. But in my opinion even if the bodyshop paints the hood its gonna be really hard to match your original paint that you have. Have you ever felt the edges of a hood after the body shop paints a hood? I will tell you this much its not as smooth as the original factory paint, the over spray just does not give you that smooth touch. I hope this helps. M.L.
  3. Iceman Congrats on your new car. I have also bought my new IS 250 and am very excited in finding out more about what the car can do. Please do put up your pics as I want to see how the tint looks. thanks man, i'm really enjoying my new car, i took it to the dealer and when they were filling the tires they also filled in my small crack, it now looks like a small bb nic...worse things can happen....the dealership was great though i didn't have to wait and make another appointment they just fixed it right there on the spot also, last week i had a Caltex interior/exterior treatment done on it...it coats the interior to protect the leather, the exterior which is amazing...you never have to wax your car because the coating they put on it leaves a shine as good, or probably better than a wax job, and they undercarriage gets coated for rustproofing, important for upstate NY winter driving...costs around $500 and the windows have been tinted.. 35% in front, 20% in back..hopefully i can get some pictures soon if we ever have sun in this area
  4. Hi everyone, I just got my New 2008 IS 250 and I was just curious as I was reading the Forum and I noticed that some people were talking about playing DVD's in their car, I have the Full Navigation System and I am interested in playing DVD's in my car. Is there anyway I can add the DVD feature into my car without spending alot of money? Or is it a feature that can only be added in by the dealership? I should have payed more attention to that detail when I first bought my car. Thanks, M.L.
