  1. Hold the button down until it runs a full cycle then release it. It should now work.
  2. You might check here. http://home.comcast.net/~rx300how2/index.html It may or may not help.
  3. Welcome Go to "My Controls" to activate the email notice. ECU Electronic Control Unit (I think) "Oil sludge: we had to have the engine repaired b/c oil sludge. As stated in another post, this was done at an independent auto shop. Is there a way to get reimbursed from Toyota? Could there be any connection between the engine repair in December, and the seemingly electrical problem now? " Probably not and maybe so. Either the battery is not getting charged or something is draining it. (Both obvious) How far does your daughter drive it? Is it far enough, 10 to 20 miles, to keep the battery charged? I'm assuming that little things have been eliminated, like the dome lights on. Everyone checks the battery cables at the battery, check the other ends also. You might even take the ground cable loose and make sure there's no paint or corrosion under it. Just my ramblings...........
  4. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but If it works for you, keep doing it. Some parts aren't cheep to fix, but a little maintenance goes along way.
  5. Is that for real? Funny! I've watched it a dozen times and laugh. I think it's for real. Watch the expression on the drivers face.
  6. Look at the different wheels and pick the one you like the looks of best. "This is an SUV though they say it drives like a car." They can say anything. Don't forget, it's taller and heavier than a car.
  7. It may need to be "normalized", Page 131 in my manual. Push the control switch forward and hold it until the roof cycles through Tilt and open, back to full closed and release. Done
  8. The 17" will have a higher sidewall tire which should give a softer ride and a narrower contact patch for reduced noise. Both of those are going to depend on the brand of tire. Your option are: 225/65x17S or 235/55X17V in Goodyear or Michelins I believe. From what Ive read on different post, people are not happy with the low mileage of the Goodyear tires.
  9. Too bad. I was interested in her height because in reading the owners book, I got the impression that if the seat is adjusted forward enough, the air bags don't deploy because of insufficient distance between the driver and the steering wheel. If that was the reason, then that would nullify 2/3's of the prior post in her case.
  10. Too bad. I thought we were here to brag, !Removed! a little, and help people. Not pi** them off.
  11. Food for thought. Most air bag systems have a "dis-arm" function so that when a mechanic is working on the car, the air bag won't deploy. If you've had any work done to the RX it may not have been reset although I would think you would get a indicator warning light.
  12. It's not normal and should be a simple switch adjustment. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me (99% of the world population) can jump in and tell you where the switch is located.
  13. Found these today FWIW. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=96642
  14. I don't know the Lexus setup on vacuum lines, but on acceleration, that is the lowest point of vacuum and if there is a leak or bad check valve, the A/C system will go to it's default settings. This could be "recircurlate". As far as the odor, has anyone checked the drain tube that lets the condensation drip out of the condenser housing? I'm assuming that the Lexus has one.
  15. The car on the left (avatar) has 10.5 compression, aluminum heads, conventional electronic ignition, carb and no computer. I must run the highest rated gas to prevent damage. The Lexus has 10.8 CR, aluminum heads and computer controlled FI and Ign. that can compensate for lower quality gas. Gas stations only have two tanks. One for premium and one for regular. The in between grade is a mix of the two. If I can't find premium, then I have to find and add octane booster just to get home. I could !Removed! my timing enough to use reg. gas, but it would run like a Yugo. In the Lexus and other newer cars the computer will adjust. Just how much is lost, I don't know. Fill up one week with the highest rated gas and then the next with a mid rated gas. Use the old pencil and paper to record the mileage, brand and price to see if it's worth it. You could carry it one step further and try different brands, as like anything else standards vary and not always the biggest brand name is the best deal.
  16. Sorry it's out of warranty. If you have a dealer near you, you might talk to a service tech. and find out if and when (mileage) bushings are replaced. I don't recall anyone complaining about worn rear bushings. But, I havent read all 10,000 post yet.
  17. " truck makes a creaking noise when I turn, either direction." That sounds like something is bent. If you were hit at 60, then you probably did a little side to side action or did you spin all the way around? In ether case, the suspension is not designed for those kind of loads. Did they do a 4 wheel alignment to be sure all of the wheels are going straight? Lexus has a 4yr 50K mile warranty on the whole car. Check the left door frame sticker for the mfg. date. This will give you a general date. The warranty date starts on the date of the first sale. At least that's what I understand. I'd take it to the dealer and if it's not accident related, then it should be covered under the Lexus warranty. If the dealer said it's not accident and not warranty, then you can always take it to the mechanic of your choice or accept it as is. I bet the dealer finds that it's "accident related" because the insurance Co. has more money than you. (Oops I'm ranting again, sorry)
  18. On a cold day in my "old" SUV I would drive into the garage, pop the hatch and close the garage door. Luckily in the Lexus I didn't do that. Between the high lift of the rear hatch and the door mechanism hanging down, such an action would ether break the rear glass or rip the hatch off. Just a little info for ya.
  19. K & N's need to be cleaned. Just ask the car on the left.
  20. I use the mid grade gas with no trouble. The computer's knock sensor is supposed to !Removed! the timing with lower grade gas. IMO
  21. This was for those who want to know and for the rest who just need the info to wright down in your book so you can say "oh, ya. I did that".
  22. You might want to go here http://auth.owners.lexus.com/lexusowners/a...nssl/myLexus.do After you log in, you can down load the maintenance requirements for your Lexus.
  23. You might try this link http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php...vers&page=2 and go to the manufactures web site. I don't know if you can pad under them.
