  1. I use to get my Mobil 1 at Walmart. Since switching to Amsoil......it's actually cheaper than the Mobil 1 (including filter) & quite a bit better oil. B)
  2. you wont have any problem finding Chevron gas stations in AL & FL. theyre pretty much available at every interstate exits. ← Agreed......I have the book called "Along I-75" that details every gas station, restaurant, lodging at every exit from the Canada/USA border crossing in Detroit, right down to the top of Florida.......in both North & Southbound directions. B) ;)
  3. Excellent! :D B)
  4. I got this from the Car and Driver website. Enjoy! B) Toyota Threatens GM for Number One Spot The Daily Auto Insider Thursday, March 10, 2005 March 2005 Toyota, which passed Ford to become the world's number two automaker in annual global vehicle sales in 2003, may overtake General Motors as the world's top automaker, the Japan Times reported. Last year, Toyota sold 7.52 million vehicles around the world, including its truck subsidiary Hino Motors Ltd. and Daihatsu Motor Co., which makes tiny cars. Ford sold 6.80 million vehicles in 2004. In 2003, Toyota's worldwide sales totaled 6.78 million vehicles, including Hino and Daihatsu, while Ford's sales — which include Lincoln, Mercury, Aston Martin, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover, but not sales for Mazda, which is 33.4 percent owned by Ford — stood at 6.72 million vehicles. At this pace, Toyota could overtake Ford on its own, even without Daihatsu and Hino. Toyota alone sold 6.07 million vehicles in 2003, and 6.71 million vehicles in 2004. Meanwhile, General Motors is still the world's number one automaker, producing 9.1 million vehicles in 2004, up from 8.8 million in 2003.
  5. Keep us posted on your tire wear problem as well as your tranny concerns Army. Don't do anything just yet with tires until you find out about the other stuff & the costs. Just my suggestion. B)
  6. OH NO!! :whistles: Here we go again!! Just a different forum! :chairshot: :cries: I'm staying out of this......this time around everybody lol. ;)
  7. Happy to help & keep us posted what you decide. B) It's Lexusfreak btw (guru member is just my 'skill' level on this site thus far lol ;) ) Good Luck. Have a very close look at those Falken Ziex ZE-512 I mentioned on their website. I suspect in the end, that will be you best choice of everything available for your GS.
  8. Agreed, it's just a typo......all LS models come with a V8 only. ;)
  9. Heading to Lakeland Fla.......going to catch some spring training games while I'm there. I'm a Toronto Blue Jay's fan.......but the in-laws like the Tigers. I think they have put me in the 'cheap seats' when the Tigers play the Jays lol. :whistles: <_< Thanks for all you comments about the Chevron gasoline & fuel system cleaner :D I will get the large bottle (does up to 20 gallons) 'synthetic' formula as per most of your recommendations (even going to pick up several extra for myself & my Dad!). I appreciate the help guy's! B) :) justin, you are correct....however, from what I gather, Chevron goes above & behond of the 'required' level of cleaning detergents which is better for your engine's performance, fuel economy & the environment as well.
  10. Thanks for the heads up! :D Now you wouldn't have any spy pics or sketches or actual pics of what the 5th generation ES is going to look like would ya? :whistles: ;)
  11. What would a rebuilt tranny cost for the ES 250 if that's in fact what is needed? & can one use the tranny from a 90 or 91 Camry V6 or is there a significant difference between the 2 cars that you have to find one out of an ES 250? Are they easy to find at a salvage yard or auto wrecker?
  12. A job like this need to be done after only 70,000 miles? I haven't seen this type of repair (service) called for that often, if at all.
  13. Any other specific details on this model? special equipment, colours etc? B)
  14. Yes it was well up the stick to the hot mark after 20mins driving time and the colour of the fluid was light almost transparent grey! Ive had the car serviced yearly but dont think the fluid was every changed since i got the car 3 years ago, had many mechanical parts changed (rear struts /discs ball joint etc) but the engine and transmission have been fine up to the last 2000-3000 miles ← I'd service the transmission soon then. Consider doing a 100% fluid change & at the same time, you might want to consier replacing the tranny pan gasket & cleaning the filter mesh screen at the same time. B)
  15. Sounds like it's pretty good stuff from the comments. B) I take it Chevron's high octane gas is 93? ;)
  16. Thanks for the info. B) Apparently they come in either 12 or 20 ounce bottles. With the size of gas tank (18.5 gallons) the ES has, I wonder which one I should use (I assume it says on the bottle how many gallons of fuel one bottle treats)? Are the available at Autozone or Pep Boys? & I guess the gas stations would be more expensive? B) Anybody else with some feedback on this product?
  17. lol Big. B) I agree with mity's comments about sticking with a V speed rated tire when it comes to a vehicle like the GS (although you did mention your not a spirited driver so if you went down one speed rating to H, you won't notice much of a difference). I personally would stay away from both Bridgestone & Firestone tires......there are far better choices out there for less money. B) My suggestion for you in the 215 60 16 size are: - Falken Ziex ZE-512. Awesome high performance all season tire & if you do a search in the tire section on this site & CL (clublexus.com) I have recommended these to many members & my wife has them on her vehicle as well. Nothing but very positive feedback from everyone thus far. 60,000 mile warranty, Treadwear 420, Traction A & Temperature A. Fantastic traction, especially in heavy rain fall with a quiet & comfortable ride. This is your best bet for overall value. Your probably looking around $75 a tire roughly give or take. This is a much better value overall then any summer tire can offer without sacrificing any performance or handling characteristic with longer mileage. ;) www.falkentire.com Select tires, then 'all season performance' to see the tire up close. - Toyo Proxes TPT. Also a 60,000 mile warranty with a Treadwear rating of 400, Traction A & Temperature A. You mentioned that snow is not a concern to you.....well this is a very good all season performance tire with excellent wet weather traction (I have these currently on my ES 300). I have been very happy with them overall, but in certain type of snow, I agree with other members that they are not the best for those conditions. That aside, every other aspect they deliver & are a very good choice. My guess is they will be slightly over the $100 a piece mark. www.toyo.com - Yokohama AVS db S2. No personal experence, however several members have them & are quite pleased with there performance. Slightly less treadwear then the others I mentioned at 320 with Traction rating of A & Temperature rating of A. They will be fairly close in price to the Toyo's I'm guessing. My top pick by far would be the Falkens & you can do a search about what others have said about them. You won't go worng nor be disappointed with this choice. I have them on my 'short list' when my current Toyo's need replacement. Don't forget to get a 4 wheel alignment when your get your new tires installed. I hope this helps......any other questions, feel free to ask. B) Good Luck & keep us posted what you decide. ;)
  18. I've mentioned before, if the car (both body & mechanicals) is maintained properly, one can get a half million + miles on their car. There ya go. ;) That's fantastic & impressive. :D Currently 56,000 miles (90,000 kms) on my ES. B)
  19. What kind of costs can one expect when having this service done? I've never had to have any adjustments to any engine on a car I have owned other than routine maintenance.
  20. Light snow & about 11 degrees F. <_< :whistles: The wife & I will be departing to the Sunshine state on Friday morning however in 'Lexus One' with the Toyo's. :D ;) B)
  21. Hi everyone, I will be traveling to Florida for a couple weeks on vacation & taking my ES for the trip. I have some questions regarding Chevron gasoline & their Techron Concentrate fuel system cleaner . When I travel to the U.S. I usually use Sunoco, Mobil or Citgo fuel, but I have heard very good things about Chevron gasoline & am very fussy about what fuel & fuel system cleaners I put in my car. My questions are: - What's the highest octane of Chevron premium fuel (92, 93?) - If you use Chevron fuel system cleaner, how often do you use it (every oil change, 6 months?) & do you notice a significant difference in your cars performance or is it a waste of money? Please elaborate & be specific. - Is the fuel system cleaner only available at Chevron gas stations or can I buy it at a department store or auto parts store chain? and how much (roughly) is a bottle? & how many gallons of fuel does a bottle treat? Any help & / or advice on the subject is very much appreciated. B)
  22. Agreed. B)
  23. Falken's are an excellent tire! B) & very often overlooked I'm afraid which is a shame. B)
  24. Ouch......not a good tire in bad weather....especially snow & heavy rain. :chairshot: One of the worst tires I have ever had on a car. Agreed mburn....I think I'll try something else too.......Happy with the Toyo's overall mind you, but by the time they need replacing......I'm sure they will be pretty much at the end of their 'life cycle' & will something better to choose from, either from Toyo or another tire maker.
