  1. what rpm does the tranny shift from 1-2 in a 1998 ? mine does it at 3k. 60,500, never changed the tranny fluid, or tuned it up- just oil changes.
  2. just got home= they will order the part and call me in a couple of days. "we'll also call extended warranty". Um, I said OK. He made it sound like I'll still have to pay. Weird. Either way- Customer satisfaction told me to call them after my visit, and i'm on hold now!
  3. i'm here in the waiting room, they are driving it across the street to have it checked out. the problem here, is if i turn the light on or drive, or just let it sit there, the water evaporates. How can i prove this if my evidence literally dissapears on me when i need to show proof?
  4. just got off the phone with 1-800-25-LEXUS, they suggested I drive right over to prove the standing water. I'm on my way!
  5. The stealership is saying it's condensation and that I have to foot the $388+labor to replace. I say it's standing water, which is covered under warranty- What do you guys / gals think? Headlight/lamp
  6. Ok, how can one check if they do NOT have engine gelling. I bought my '98 with 22k on the clock. I don't know how often the oil was changed before I picked it up and now it has 60k. I changed the oil at the stealership ever 4500 to 5k miles religiously. I have'nt noticed blue smoke, and the car idles ok. It doesn't burn oil when I do remmeber to check. Any physical signs I can check? like is there a way to check in the valve cover without removing? Can i check with a flashlight? how did the people whose car you work on know to bring it, besides the cars ceasing up on them?
  7. uummm, you're assuming I'm handy. besides, whats the down time on that?
  8. Hello, I have a '98 with water accumulating in my drivers side headlamp- I guess it's time to shop around for a new headlamp, huh? 8(
  9. Good questions, as i was wondering if I could get install an optima in my '98. Those are the best battery's you can buy in IMHO.
  10. I have a 98 es and I think my rotors are warped. I just turned 60 k. I'm thinking about an OEM Brembo "upgrade", non vented with OEM - not lexus/toyota composite pads. Anyone upgrade their brakes have any suggestions? manufacturere, distributor, installer? thanks!
  11. very sweet ! just one question- will going with the 18's throw of your speedo?
  12. as expected- it is not covered. o well. where can i find an oem tweeter? the parts dept?
  13. i took my car to the dealer for an oil change, and when i had to pay at the service desk- "oh yeah, we changed that bulb for you". 15 bucks. I said, I had the bulb in the glove compartment, but I never got around to change it. It was an uncomfortable silence. 1998 ES300
  14. any suggestions? Any retail outlet, I think. Circuit city, best buy, boomer, tweeters. I'll ask on Tuesday when the car goes in for an oil change. Damn IPOD- the root cause of my car's system- j/k. I don't want to go aftermarket- I may trade this in for a GS. Thanks Alan
  15. ah, good news... I hope all goes well on Tuesday!
  16. Certified pre owned- 59k miles. My dealer changed the turn signal bulb last sept., what's weird is that there is now condensation in my drivers side headlamp. I owned a mitsu eclipse and when the same thing happened, they replaced both headlamp assemblies at $330/ each ,Under warranty! I'm worried , i called the service desk to make an appointment today and the guy wasn't sure, and said "um, yeah". anyone have issues with their headlamps? i have a weird feeling i will get screwed here.
  17. help! I blew my drivers side tweeter! is that covered under a certified car warranty? If not- how can I replace it? It's all stock and I don't mind. It is not a nakimichi system. Crutchfield says it has no tweeters for it. Can't I just use a pioneer tweeter set? Thanks, G
