  1. From the description I saw on the web page it says it is 76 inches long. How much is hanging over the windshield when you have it in a position that allows the hatch to open? and is this a problem?
  2. Ok. I got the tow hitch from Lexus. Can someone please tell me which way to turn the ball mount when I put it into the receiver. Should it curve down or up?
  3. I just purchsed one myself for my 2008 RX350. The part # for the hitch was PT228-48045. The ball mount was part # PT228-48080. The 1 7/8" is probably your most common size for trailer ball, but you can also get a 2" using the part #s pt791-00842, pt791-00844. Got mine on the web at : http://lexus.dealerfit.com/store/lexus-rx-...-cat397_407.php But there are lots of deals on the web. Do a search on this forum and shop around.
  4. Ok, I got the liquid graphite wheels. They looked good and the name sounded cool, but what does it all mean? What is liquid graphite? What make these wheels different or better? How is the color applied, i.e. paint, powder coat or something else?
  5. Unfortunatly, Lexus/Toyota doesn't seem to supply their parts to just anyone. Try getting the Toyota part number (see my earlier post and link for this) and do a Google search. Also, you might take the part number into a Toyota dealer's parts department and see what you can get it for. They usually will even haggle the price a bit if that is your style. Shipping costs are a nightmare so take that into account when looking at Inernet prices and local prices. Make sure your RX has the towing package to reduce the possibility of transmission damage. It may not be necessary for a single jet ski but anything over that might be dicey in hilly terrain. Thanks for the info. I have been struggling with the internet searches for good prices and have also found the shipping cost to be ridiculous or another vendor wants to charge extra for the wiring harness or the ball mount or both. I have found lots of info here for the part I need. (PT228-48045) I didn't think about checking with a Toyota dealer. The local Lexus dealer is charging 350.00. I do like to haggle though, so this maybe the best bet on good prices. I do have the towing package and would like to put it to some use.
  6. Thanks for the information. I checked out the Sewells web site. Lots more information there. I am going with the Lexus Brand, just looking for a good price. Does anyone have any favorite online sites that they buy from?
  7. Thanks for the post. Now I came apon something puzzling. When I do a search for the Tow Hitch going to various web sites it seems some are calling part # PT228-48045 a Class II and others are calling it a Class III. Does anyone have any insight to this? Do both exist or just one or the other?
  8. I would like to buy a tow hitch for my 2008 RX350. Does anyone have any favorite web sites they use for buying Lexus OEM parts. I'm looking for a better price than my local dealer. He wants 350.00 for part PT228-48045.
  9. I was looking thru the trunk area for the first time. I found the jack, first aid kit, tool kit and something else. I looks like a large eye bolt. Can anyone tell me what this is and whats it used for?
  10. Does anyone have recomendation for a roof top carrier that will fit my 2008 RX350. I have been looking at Thule, but without putting it on top to test fit, I just wasn't sure which model to get. Anyone have any experience here? I was particular interested to know if it would interfere with the rear door.
  11. Appreciation the info, and I hope I see some rain soon. SC is not as bad off as GA and I'm glad I live close to a Lake. But can this switch be used for anything else beside slippery conditions? I thought the TRAC and VSC would take care of these conditions.
  12. I have noticed that the cross bars on the roof rack of my 2008 RX350 are loose. They wobble up and down. Has anyone else had this probem? Is there a quick fix or is this normal?
  13. I don't get much snow here in the south so can the "ECT/SNOW" switch be used for any other situation? The hand book mentioned using it for acceleration but that was about it. So if I push this switch is the car going to go faster?
  14. So does anyone know how a separate forum is started?
  15. In terms of "built in" my dealer told me it was located in the rear glass. I guess he was mistaken. My complaint has more do with the exposed wire leading to the antenna.
  16. I also had the dealer install satellite radio. I was very disappointed in the look of the antennae. Instead of a clamshell or something upscale looking, I have a little antennae next to the regular, dealer installed antennae. I feel the installation looks cheap and like something you would expect from Circuit City. For over $700 I expected better. I wrote to Lexus about my disappointment, and didn't even receive a reply. Did you get the XM or Sirius? When I asked about my Sirius installaton I was told that the XM had the built in antenae, which eliminated the need for anything extra attached to the outside and this was not the case with Sirius. It needed a different antenae which was not built in. Does anyone have the XM dealer install that can cofirm the antenae being built in? or does it require extra an antenae?
  17. I have had experience with the portable and the dealer installed versions. I went with the dealer install in my 2008 RX350. I also chose Sirius over XM, which is available on the 2008 model. I chose Sirius because they offer a lifetime subscription and I chose the dealer install version because I liked the ease of use through the Nav system, also I just liked having clean lines inside the car. My charges for dealer install before delivery was 800.00 The only thing I don't like is the text is limited to 10 characters, but that is the case on anything being played through the system.
  18. Oh well, I guess I'll do the same. I just thought with all the innovations available in a Lexus, surely there was an easier way to inflate the spare. Thanks for the reply.
  19. Ok, I'm a first time RX owner and I'm still checking things out and learning how to operate things. I'm big on maintaining things between service intervals and I was wondering how do you check the pressure in the spare tire without totally lowering the tire out of its storage place?
  20. I am interested in learning more about this quirk. I thought it was just me, but the more I read this board I realize we have all have the same car with the same quirks. What is the LOC site?
  21. Does anyone else have the dealer installed "Sirius Radio"? I was just wondering about the location placement of the antenae. I was told it was built in, but apon delivery I discovered it was added on instead. Its OK, but I would have prefered cleaner lines. It was one of those magnet styles, but I think it was permnantly attached in the rear driver side corner.
  22. Are you using hi or lo beams when you see this reflection? I see it on mine also but only on hi beams.
  23. Does anyone else have the dealer installed "Sirius Radio"? I was just wondering about the location placement of the antenae. Iwas told it was built in, but apon delivery I discovered it was added on instead. Its OK, but I would have prefered cleaner lines. It was one of those magnet styles, but I think it was permnantly attached in the rear driver side corner.
  24. Well so far so good for me. I have about 600 miles on my 2008 RX350. One unique item that is available that has not been there before is you can make a choice between XM or Sirius radio. I had a life time subscription to Sirius so this was good for me. Just made a transfer of service from my previous auto to this one. Good Luck.
