I have the same issue. I can reproduce the noise at will. Everytime I accelerate or even press the accelerator slightly, I hear a thump/clunk. When I brake I hear it occasionally as well. I am not sure what is causing this but it has started happening recently.
Hmmm...me too (thump), but not a regular occurrence though. Was beginning to wonder if my tire iron or spare tire were not secured properly. Just had transfer case done...so will let you know if that was the issue should the thump be gone.
Guess is that its "normal" based on driving a new RX 350 for the last five days and guess what it did today? Yuppers, clunk/thump.

The sun visor (driver side) on my RX330 has a different problem. When I position it to shade sunlight coming in thru the driver's window, it has the annoying habit of rotating at its attach point and smacking me in the head whenever I make a left turn. The centrifugal forces making it do this are slight... I'm not making hard left turns.
The solution is to find a way to increase the friction of the visor where it attaches to the roof of the vehicle. Is there a way to do this without the expense of replacing the entire assembly?
Et tu? LOL. Have you gotten used to holding it in place while you turn? ROFL. I can so relate. Just (today) replaced my hinge because of that (well worth the $90 bucks in part and labor to stop that annoying crap). Funny how a 4 year old car has those issues when my 70 Challenger's visors have no such problems after all almost 40 years. Go figa'!

..i looked under the front drivers seat and i saw two cables, one hanging down from the seat, and the other originated from the the floor of the vehicle. Please tell me where these cables go and what they are for. Its also worth mentioning im not the original owner of the vehicle so i do not have its complete history.. any advice will be appreciated. Thanx.
Perhaps the heater or the power to the seat if I'd have to make a reasonable deduction.

Thanks for the layman's breakdown WWEst....this was an awesome post!

I've had NO such mechanical issues with my 2004 RX 330....90K highway miles on it now (from 0 miles at new). Only had that damn dash rattle, which was addressed by the dealer.

Version 8.1.
Thanks...so I ask for 8.1 Gen 3?

Is it advisable to replace this part when doing your timing belt (knew this to be the case on 90's and earlier cars, but know little of modern enigne layouts and whether or not the pump is uneffected as to access as to make an "anytime change out" possible)? And, how long do these pumps last/what is the recommended life span?
THANKS!

Hello Gang. Trying to ensure I get the MOST current disc available for my 2004 RX 330. Dont want to be sold last year's nav disc if there is a new kid on the block. THANKS!

My mechanic did it in 30 sec. and for free.
Just called the service manager. They will be crediting me the entire bill. Mgr was not in that day, and he TOO has questions as to the charges. Feel much better now. As I told the Mgr, I dont mind paying labor/parts, etc when its a legit work order for a repair, but not to reset a computer (less than 5 mins).
-
Check the owners book, but I think to reset it, you hold the button all the way open until it closes again. Remember the old days when a sun roof had just a button and no *^&%$# COMPUTER.
Amen!
Dealer charged me for an hour's labor on this BS...and we all KNOW it took 10 mins to correct. Not to mention, they also had a misc $13 shop fee. Had I been the one picking up the car, I would have called them to the carpet on the spot. As it is, I will have to call the shop mgr and ask why the hour labor and what the F the "shop supplies" are for this service call.

Agreed, after replacing the battery on our 2004 RX330, I just had a similar issue with the power windows. I had to consult the manual and to my surprise, right there it said "after replacing the battery, you may experience an issue with the power windows ..."
Yes, found that...and the blank balance of the page with no "how to" fix it.
-
Hubby changed out my battery today (fortunately, it didn't die on us one day earlier whilst we were 280+/- miles from home) as its Sunday, and no dealership is open. I assume the Lexus factory batt is only good for 4 years...?
Anyway, he tells me that the sunroof controls now seem to be crossed. That is, the tilt is controlling everything, to include slide forward and back, while the button that normally controls that, seems to be dead. I have not checked anything else, but I am sure the seat and radio memories are wiped (par for the course, and not a huge deal), but am also concerned about some who have mentioned needing a code to regain any radio access at all.
Anyway..the big issue here are the sunroof controls.
Before I have to schlep to the dealer, does anyone have experience with this? Your input would be most humbly appreciated.
Regards.

Have a 2004 RX 330. Want to upgrade the Nav disc, but wasnt sure what the most up-to-date version was, and more importantly, what version will work in my present system.
I also understand its a simple issue of trunk mount player access to switch out discs.
Please advise.

No, I don't work for Bridgestone. Other than the Alenza, I've tried to avoid Bridgestone because my previous experiences with them proved that their treadwear life and wet traction was no better than average even when frequently rotated and properly inflated.
And no, you're not messing with my livelihood. I make my living via the stock and options markets around the world.
I just hate to see folks waste their hard-earned money when they buy into the Michelin hype with a very costly, very mediocre tire like the MXV4 S8....
Guess it depends on your needs/and wants in a tire. I hate a truck like sound or ride, but likewise do want to realize some tread life and performance, thus must strike a balance. I replaced my factory tires in June 2006, and dont even recall the Alenza being prominently written-up at that time (Consumer's etc.), otherwise I would have seriously considered them when shopping tires. When did they come out? Are they factory equip for other manufacturer's SUV (Mercedes or BMW perhaps?) May wish to check them out next replacement time (if the newer gen of the Michellin's I have now ultimately prove less than what I expected in treadware/performance as tread life progresses...but seemingly better than the first gen Michellin's I had on the car.)

I went with Michellin Energy MXV4 S8's with full liftime service (rotate and balancing) and road hazard warranty for a grand total of $812. If wanting the tires only, without warranty, install, balance, rotations, it was $688.
I, of course, played SEVERAL tires places against one-another to dwindle the price down as much as possible, then slipped over the bridge to NTB in Wilmington, Delaware (I live 20 mins from Wilmington) and saved the 7% sales tax in NJ as well.
Fortunately, having picked a National chain store worked in my favor as 4 weeks later I rolled over construction debris and blew TWO tires, wherein I was less than 8 mins away from a NTB location, which accordingly as a chain store had these tires in stock! Between Lexus roadside flatbedding me (for free) and NTB putting on two new tires, I was back on the road in....are you ready, ONE hour!!!!!!!!!!

Through two unsuccessful refills, and removal of all rear window stickers and suspect offending glues, the rear wiper arm still does not clear a 2 1/2 inch radius near the top of the window (apx 1 1/2 inches down from the top of the arm's tip). I have brought this to the dealer's attention three times now, each time leaving with a wiper not doing its job.
Is there a tensioner adjustment to make the arm angle in more to make better contact with the window? Is there a trick to doing this without overtightening/risking scratching the window by a wiper arm pulled too taught?

Its actually cheap considering same sensor for a late model Nissan max I had ran double.

Trunk hatch back kept auto-closing on me each time I passed under it with key on my person. Once I placed the key aside (on front seat) and tried again, it stopped closing on me. It was severely cold and icy out, and this has never happended before in cold weather nor has it occurred since that extremely cold day.
Has anyone else experienced this? Key problem or door sensor problem?

Here is a link with video showing it, along with the instructions for the different years/makes of Toyota Lexus to access the Service Menu (where the DVD Override option is located)

Thank you James. Will try soon.

or you can get them for free here: http://www.bedlib.org/ebsco.html
click on the green picture that says auto repair and find your car.
i went to the dealership at 49,800 miles (that was last month) to try to see if everything was okay. I had all the TSB's prepared, so my advisor sent a test driver with me to the car and he seemed to deny all the annoyances i had. Like with wind noise (tsb for that driver door). He argued with me that there was no wind noise and wouldnt change it for me...that %#&$
but he reassured me that they will still repair things (maybe not for free though) if problems do come up. i wouldnt worry about it. some expire at 80K miles though.
Cant seem to open the links once at the sight. What software is it?

I think lexus link is no more.
Just spoke with Lexus Link last night. As it wasnt an option on my vehicle when built, I cant have it added after the fact.
-
How do you like your lexus link service? Pricing?
How much/can one add it to an older vehicle (2004 RX 330)?
Thanks!
(Cell phone co's "A" (T-Mobile) screwed me tonight by refusing to honor their phone reps quoted rate (whic I wrote down AND confirmed the following night BEFORE bailing on my current provider) for my internet add on, and co. "B", Cingular, refused to re-instate my account under my old AT&T rates/wanting me to instead sign a two year contract for $30 a month MORE than I was paying, thus I told them both to shove their phones & their service. Time for some alternatives. Hope Lexus Link will be it.

Also, off-topic for this thread, but I know the spare tire is stored under the car. Is it covered in any way, or fully exposed? Also, how difficult is to remove the tire if you have a flat? Last question, does the RX 330 have power folding side mirrors, heated steering wheel, and/or heated seats? Thanks, in advance.
Better yet, let Lexus send someone out to do it. Has anyone had to use Lexus roadside service? How fast are they? Any hidden fees?

Interstate Auto...Diamond (bumper to bumper). Have had them on both new and used car purchases through my credit union, and they have paid out on all items that were covered in the contract to date (have had one or more policies in effect with them for over 10 years)...noting that they work with most dealers. Hubby's Caddie and Nissan were serviced at their respective dealerships and in each case, the dealers direct billed Interstate, so no money out of pocket.
