  1. Right on ! Glad to hear your back in business.
  2. Have you tried cleaning either one? Before you bought it someone may have put in an extremely dirty CD which would cause it to work poorly, and eventually "tucker out" I'm just thinking, if its flashing an error message the thing cant be completely fried. What about unhooking the battery for 15 minutes and reseting the computer, and then cleaning both units? Be better than being hasty and blowing a thousand bucks on new equipment you know?
  3. I wouldnt' take it back to the dealer for the same problem, sounds like your dissatisfied with their service anyway. take it to a brake / allignment shop and pay them the 100 bucks to diagnose it. I personally just have a general dislike for dealer anything..... <_< Sounds like they misdiagnosed your problem the first time, but at least narrowed it down to not being your braking system. Did you have an allignment done after the wheels were put on? Just thinking, maybe the sound your hearing out of the wheels / combined with a rubbing noise and/or vibration in the steering wheel are linked somehow. just my 2 cents, btw, nice car ! And IMO, champagne color is very nice looking and also the easiest color in the world to maintain. :)
  4. If the IACV valve is failing, wouldnt the rpm be erratic at idle as well? It definately sounds like a throttle body problem where the engine fires and then chokes for fuel. If it were an electrical problem it would do it when you were driving as well. ( i.e. distributor sensor etc. ) Also, since the IACV and throttle body seems to frequently present various problems in the es300, can anyone direct us to where in the engine compartment the IACV / throttle body is and how to clean and maintain it? SKperformance maybe? :)
  5. Hard to tell what the ending price will end up being, but that car (if it were mechanically sound), would go for about 14K where I'm at. Check the carfax with the vin#. 400 dollars to fix everything he listed? buyer beware.
  6. JPI wrote: If your real main seal is leaking you are loosing engine oil not ATF. On the ES300, cam seals and valve cover gaskets go out all the time. www.jpimportz.org Is this all ES300's up to present? or primarily early to mid 90's models?
  7. Hello, I'm a newbie, 1st post, please be gentle. I am doing as much research as I can before purchasing a 99 ES300 with 50 to 60K mi. Was wondering what kind of common problems if any, I should be aware of that other owners have experienced. I will be purchasing one within the next few weeks. Any feedback is much appreciated. Cheers, Matt
