  1. Does any one have 35% front and 18% or 20% back i think thats what i want to go with but i would like to see it first if possible! :D

Can anyone give me some input on how you THINK this will look??

It looks okay, but if you do that you'll see the breakup between the 2 different shades.. On a past car of mine I had 35% up front and 20% in the rear and the breakup was very noticeable.. So that's why I opted for one shade all around.. If your worried about the police you can always tint the rear window 20%, the side windows 35% and a strip of 35% on the windshield.. Having the rear window darker and that strip on the front it will darken the inside of the car and it will give a darker appearance from the sides.. Also, what color is your interior?? Because if you have a dark interior that will also make it seem as though the tint is darker than it really is..

  2. Woah, woah, woah. What the hell is up with all the negative comments about Lexus paint? I've been in the automotive field in one form or another for over 15 years. My family has been in it since the '70's.

Only one time did I see a problem with Lexus or Toyota paint to the extent that msetyon has described. That is not to say that is doesn't or hasn't happened, but it is certainly by far not the norm. As a matter of fact, I have seen Lexus cars ten years old or more with absolutely beautiful paint.

The one case in point that I did experience was a friend of mine who bought a GS400, alpine silver, brand new. About 16 months after he owned it, a spot on the hood started to peel. He immediately went back to the dealer he bought it from. The body shop analyzed it. To get a confirming opinion, they called out a rep from the Lexus head office (flew his !Removed! across country to PA). He came out, measured the paint thickness on the hood and found it to be below specification. My friend was given the option to have it refinished (free of charge) or get a new car. He opted for the new car, as anyone would.

If you aren't receiving this level of service from your dealer, you might want to start calling around. Find another dealer(s) and get their opinions. Alternatively, call the head office:

    The Lexus Customer Assistance Center

    Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. PT

    Phone: 1-800-255-3987 prompt #4

    Fax: 1-310-468-2992

    Address:

    P.O. Box 2991 - Mail Drop L202

    Torrance, CA 90509-2991

In any case, you should get more consideration than you did, especially if you bought your previous cars at the same dealer.

As for the brakes, that's a variable thing. I got my '98 GS300 used with 59K miles on it. It was a NY car. When I got it, it needed brakes all around and rotors (and shocks and ball joints) in the front. I expected this considering the origin of the car. It's been fine ever since. I have 70K on it at the moment.

I considered it a "gift" seeing as how my BMW ate rotors for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (even a set or two for a snack).

Well, see personally I have had bad luck then when it comes to the paint and finish.. But I must say that there's nothing wrong with my GX470, I've had it for over a year now and not one scratch or rock chip.. But that's because it sits so high and the rocks just go under it instead of hitting the bumper and hood.. I'm hoping when my GS gets out of the bodyshop this weekend I'll have better luck with the paint.. Man, when I went today to go checkout my baby I was impressed.. I thought I would go there and see it still in pieces but I was wrong.. It was the first time I saw her dressed up in her new bodykit.. She looked absolutely gorgeous, I can't wait to get in her and ride her the way she's supposed to be ridden. :D ;) I was thinking about holding off on the pics till she was totally completed but that won't be for atleast a month so you guys might be seeing her 1/2 way completed.. Sorry for getting off topic but I couldn't help myself..

  3. Check it, IMO a 40 series tire is too thick, but your worried about your ride quality and with a 40 series tire the ride will be alittle better than if you went with a 35 series.. But the look of it is slightly off with thicker sidewalls, that's my opinion.. As for the 02 sensors, if you look down at your engine, to the left off you cats you'll see them sticking out.. They almost have a spark plug look to them..

  4. Thanks guys...

I'm gonna put a big sign in front of my house that reads " regardless who you are if you get caught trespassing your leaving with a bullet in your a$$.." :D

Nah but seriously, I'm not that keen on being around too many people.. When we have parties over here and family comes over I run for cover.. Too many kids and much to much noise.. I go in my basement and watch TV or jump online.. I hate noise!!! And the more people around the noisier it is.. That's just with family though, one day over the summer I'll most likely have a party and you all will be invited.. And I promise no bullets in anyone's rearend...

  5. Will the paint stay glossy? You really have no idea what you're looking at do you? If the paint is all you're worried about, then by all means go for it.

Man that is too funny... :D :D

Check it bro, there is no such thing as "little damage" if the insurance company paid the claim and took it from the owner.. That most likely means it was totaled out.. And another thing, if you have 15 grand or so to spend on a GS, buy a 98 GS3 and turbo it.. Or just keep on looking and while you wait just stack your funds untill you have enough.. Trust me, you'll find something.. Don't rush into it, if you do that you'll definitely regret it after you findout what you really bought.. Listen, don't be impulsive and if a deal seems to good to be true then there most likely is a good reason for that.. Goodluck with your search..

  6. and we should begin arriving at what time? I'll bring the pool toys.

enjoy. Hope you don't have too many adventerous neighborhood kids like I do.

    steviej

We have a few kids like that around here.. But they know better than to try to take a dip in my pool.. :chairshot: :cries:

  7. Thanks.. Yeah I don't think it'll be that much work.. I also have a motorized cover that covers the pool with a turn of a key.. With the cover it stops alot of crap from getting in it when it's not being used..

  8. How do you guys like the finished product?? The Landscapers are coming next week to put sod down and to plant some nice plants around the boulders.. And also the fence guy is coming to put up my fence around the pool too..

  9. I figured the kit will have everything you need for a complete Turbo system.. Here, I'll start and ramble things off the top of my head.. First off, the Greddy E-Manage will definitely come with it and that will preprogrammed with ignition harness, map sensor and harness.. Tubular Turbo Exhaust Manifold, Garret T04 60-1 Turbo or you can go with a Greddy T88H which I'm going with for some extra $$$.. TurboSmart BO valve, TurboSmart Wastegate, Turbosmart Boost-T (boost controller), All the necessary piping which will be 3," KN filters, HoseTechniques HighTemp Nylon reinforced Silicone couplers and connectors, also HoseTechniques silicone Vacuum hoses.. Then you'd get a 32"X12"X3" front mount intercooler.. Now with the piping the kit will come with will be steel but I'm thinking for extra money we can either chrome it for you or maybe make it Aluminum.. Also, I'm trying to find a company who can produce a front downpipe with a Hiflo cat too.. Now I'm figuring after install you'd be looking at around 325rwhp..

Oh I forgot, it will also have SS braided oil lines.. RC Engineering 550cc Injectors with a BBK/Walbro 255lph High pressure intank fuelpump.. I think that's about it. Now this thread is just a question, I'm going to be installing everything I posted and when I'm finished I'll take some pics and post them up for you guys to see.. Then I'll hit the Dyno and post what my car can do..
