well, i had a tune up last week, turns out my 92 ls400 (166k) need a new water pump or something. coolant leaking and i can see coolant flowing down the ducts underneath the car. not sure if it's pump problems or any cracks somewhere. Any way to fix it without taking the car apart, such as mending stuff? maybe i aslo need a power steering pump. if i can DIY!!

Today, i have atune up for my 1992 ls400, 165k. check finds a slow leakage in water pump. i was told it ok as long as i take care of the water level. my radiator lite also on all the time. check the front bottom of the car ans see if you find sone collant leakage. Possibly that turns on the light.

Sounds like the IAC valve needs cleaning. Same symtoms. Thanks Holmes. What is IAC? Where it located and how to clean? Can i DIY? Really appreciated if i can DIY. The IAC Valve is (Intake Air Control) I don't know where it is located on the Is400 but I think that it is located about the same place on all models. On my 98 ES300, it is located just under the intake maniford between the engine and manifold. It is a easy DIY. There is a thread on the forum with detailed instructions. GoldenState Silver Sport has an excellent step by step info. Give him an e-mail or message and he will be more than happy to help you or point you to the right thread. I hope it is ok for me to mention other thread posters on the forum. I have an idling and die down problem when it is cold in the morning. i searched the thread and turns out it is Idle Air COntrol problem...saying it needs cleaning? Anybody knows where this IAC located on TB? What it looks like? better have a photo so that i can identify it. thx.

i have two days experiencing engine die down on my way to work. Yesterday morning, when i stopped at a red light, engine choked and died just 2 mins after off fwy (Total 5-6 miles), During noon time, i check car, engine ran perfect, no die-down way home after work. This moning, i expereinced the same. To keep engine alive, i had to put one foot on brake, one foot on fuel. when turned into parking lot, car died. Check again in the noon, car OK again... what effected this? temperature? I have let the engine run for 10 min in parking lot before i hit the road. Anyone have this problem beofre? any suggestions? it's 92 ls400 with 165k. Thx.

have you solved your problems? I had this problem after off fwy and stopped at red light. Engine stalled and up and downs several times and then died. restarted and kept on doing this. I put one foot on on brake adn one foot on feul pedal and rode to a parking lot. during morning break, i cheked it adn it started ok and engine ran perfect. no up and downs, no choking, no stroke at all. don;t know if it will do it again on my way home or some other time. btw, it's 92 ls 400, 165k. any clues, inputs, suggestions?

I was trying to clean it with brush cleaning cd, seems cd doesn't run, no rotation....thought maybe cd head problem. can do nothing about it. that;s also why i asked how to clean the cd head in anothr thread... frustrated...thx anyway. at least i tried though proble still there...

I think i have the same problems as yours. I took the CD changer out and dismantle everything putside but can't get into inside. if you have more pics to show every step, that wil be highly appreciated. I removed and dismantled everything and foud nothing wrong with it. put back on but stull not work. Err displays...eject ok, scan disc from 1 to 6 ok, just don;t play cd but display err. cd magazine easy to malfunction? any suggestions?

I called a locksmith. the guy didn;t ask me what car i have nor what year but just send me a iguy. the guy said service chage $35, labor 115. I said forget it. the guy asked me for $35 service. I said you did nothing adn i would not pay you $35 for nothing... Then i called another guy, he said $50. OK! 2 mins done!! what the difference!! By the way, i will duplicate a key tomorrow for $25, just a key without remote, good for me anyway and better for hundreds dollars from the dealer....

Key locked in car. I opened trunk lid and front lid, then threw key on seat and close the door. Door locked by itself. can't get key now. I thought somebody said there is a way to open it from somewhere in the trunk. ANYBODY help, plz? wait on line. thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!

what the temp reading? My light is always on even i flushed the coolant and changed new. temp always reads in the middle of the gauge.. needle stays horizontal... is that normal temp ind?

It's siad southern califinians don't know how to drive when raining....hahah...well, really HUGE rain last night when i drove home around 4:00AM on fwy 5. lots of water adn i could feel the strong resistance. even I like to drive in rain, i worry if Lexus will doing good in huge rain. when I exit fwy and came to a stop sign, i could feel the engine kinda choking a little bit. rain water problem? just worried and need input of your experience from reaining areas so everybody knows what will happen driving in huge rain or even water gets into systems...

God Bless you!! I live in houston and should be able to drive my 94 LS400 down there and get it fixed. SWEET!!! I have a 92 LS400 165K, idle is always at berween 400-600, looks like lower than 600 but also seems like 400. is that normal? used to have one stall after off fwy.

I just change 5 bulbs (AutoZong) including side marker light, foglight, taillights ect. totoally cost me $13. If with Lexus dealers, maybe $130. what you think? By the way, I used H3 bulb for foglight instead of H3C, juts adding a wire to it per the instruction in this forum. Great help and saved a lot of money...
