  1. Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed--I tried the search option and got every link that had the word "rear" or "sensor" in it. Was taking waaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooooooooo long to get the info I was looking for.

2004 LS 430: when I bought the car a week ago the rear driver sensor would be activated when in reverse. I have tried to clean sensor with no change. Are there suggestions on how to fix the issue? The car is still under warranty so should I just take to local Lexus dealer even though bought privately?

On the dash it has a fuel economy reading that is driving me crazy. Is there a way to get off odometer reading or reset so accurate? The individual that I purchased it from ran 87 octane through it for about 2,0000 miles and was getting around 17.5 mpg around town. Since I have it I having been putting 91 octane. This past weekend I drove 500 miles and the reading has changed to 17.8 mpg but when figures from trip A sensor and gas receipt I am getting 28.1 mpg. How do I either remove this reading from the dash or reboot so am having correct info?

I do not think you can reset it...it takes the average of the life of the car. As far as the sensor, you should probably check it with the dealer, you are under warranty. Looks like the only way you can get that gas mileage up to where you want it to be is to drive 20,000 miles at 30 MPG ;)

  2. As an "older man", I wouldn't put that on my LS. If I were younger, I probably wouldn't be buying an LS though. The artistic work does have a good look.

    John

Sorry it came out that way John, what I meant to say was people 40+. I do understand that is not "old" because "old" refers to people around 90, but I hope you understand. Hey, if I had the money, I'd buy an LS right now, probably the previous generation too. I like your by the way. No hard feelings  !!

  3. On the same note, I too just became owner of a 2000 GS300 and noticed that the manual and gas cap say premium unleaded only. Is it terribly important to only put premium in and when I say premium I refer to 91 octane or higher? Is there anyone out there that has always used regular unleaded and has been just fine? On the other side is there anyone out there that has experienced problems with using regular unleaded? I am new to Lexus so I wanted to ask some owners with experience.

    Thanks,

    RS

I have an 06 GS and I use 89 car runs perfect.

  4. Mine don't, but I thought they once did. I can't remember if they used to pan down, or if I'm getting it confused with my old Cadillac CTS. Can some of you GS guys let me know if your rear view mirrors pan down automatically when the car is placed in reverse? Thanks.

mine do pan down and I have an '06 GS430

Are you sure about that??? I have an 06 GS 300 every possible option on it and they don't. Do they acutally move when the car is in reverse as well as in drive???

  5. Please help me. I just realized my second remote doesn't work. I replaced new good battery, it still doesn't work. Does it mean that I have to program the second key?

I can't find the information any where on the forum or internet. Please help!

Id say the best bet would be to bring it to the dealer and ask what's wrong with the key. sometimes those things break after being dropped a couple times. you still got that factory 4/50 warranty

  6. Mine don't, but I thought they once did. I can't remember if they used to pan down, or if I'm getting it confused with my old Cadillac CTS. Can some of you GS guys let me know if your rear view mirrors pan down automatically when the car is placed in reverse? Thanks.

The GS mirrors do not pan down when putting the car in reverse. hey if you got the nav tho, you got the backup camera and that is just as good.

  7. Does the '06 300 have a garage door opener or home link system built in? If so, how do you set it up with a garage door?

It does have one on the rear view mirror...there are 3 programable. the way to program it should be in your owners manual. i really suggest checking it out there is some helpful info there.

thanks for the reply. I actually do not have the owner's manual as I bought the car recently used and it didn't come with it. I am going to try to fetch a copy and figure out how to program. Does Lexus have the owner's manual online?

Not sure, you should def check out their website and see if there are any downloads etc.

  8. I have a 1990 that has had the typical repairs, t/belt, p/s pump, pulleys, and some suspension items. Got over 350,000 miles now and has never broken down. Best car I have ever owned.

holy crap! 350? dang dude. Lets see some odo pics. Just for kicks!

I was cruisin at 95 mph the other day. Couldn't hear a thing. Eek, coulda lost my license. i guess 229 aint nuthin

My father inlaws 92 ls400 has over 550k he is very, VERY meticulous about his autos ( he has 7 lex/toys) and is an ex pilot who maintained his own planes................ Need I say more? If you really need more details on what oil/coolant/ tires/ etc... he used be specific. And the LS is in showroom condition for being 15+ years old. Pearl white, full tint, Arizona only car..........................................

    Cheers indeed!

My 400 SL has 421K and I thought I was doing well.

I nearly made a $100 when the Jiffy Lube guy said:

Lady--You not reading it right---I bet you a $100 dollars it is $42,000

---well, I felt sorry for him when he saw the guage and didn't ask for the C note ...

Now that's funny, it's always good to see peoples reactions when they are wrong.

  9. yup! they will fit 100%. what are you gonna do with your old rims?

    Thanks Omar!

If you're interested in the '94 rims & tires you can email me at hotsandrail@hotmail.com

I have no need for them.

Does anyone know if the LS 430 rim will fit my '94 LS 400?

    Thanks!

They fit because they have the same 5 bolt pattern that Lexus has been using for years and still uses on 08 vehicles today.

  10. Hey guys, the 2007 models do not have any key ignition!!! Its got a PUSH START button!!
    Hello guys:

Anyone that knows how to turn off the seatbelt warning will be great. I have tried the following hack, but it doesn't work...I wonder if it's because mine is a 2007 IS..THANKS!

    1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake

    2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )

    3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

    4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

    5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

    6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

    7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

    8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

    anyone??

So just substitute button pushes for key turns.

and make sure to not hold the brake cause youll just turn the car on!!
