  1. Here, Here DRJfrmLA!!! I will take even the slightest advantage I can get when behind the wheel. It need only be an advantage realized for a second to make it worthwhile. If the car doesn't have DRL I turn on the headlights. I think you are foolish if you do anything to disable the DRL. I fact, I might go so far as to suggest legal action against you in an accident if it can be proven that you purposefully disabled a safety device.
  2. High Beams at low power....at least on cars with HID lights.
  3. Please share with us what temperature has to do with daytime running lights' benefits.
  4. Sorry, I should have said something like, many do it... A good read of the forum will allow one to find lots of owners who hear that noise. I guess the point is, it isn't unique to his vehicle.
  5. They all do it. The theory is the float in the gas tank bangs the tank, until you use some fuel.
  6. I don't have my owners manual right handy, but yes you can disable the intro. It's in (on) the set up screen. As I recall there are three pages to that selection. Again since I don't have the manual right handy I can't recall the page, but I want to say the second page. I set mine up so that there is a beep only. There are voice selection you can make that do bring back the 'voice' to ask a question or make a statement however. I don't know if you can (or even want to) turn that feature off.
  7. There just might be something to help the low phone volume. There is a service menu available via the nav screen. On it is a volume control setting for bluetooth. Not sure exactly what it does or how it works but even if it is something the owner can't do, maybe the dealer can. Do you have the Nav System in your car? If you do...let me know and I'll try and walk you thru to this screen.
  8. Actually, there are instructions in the manual about how to move the wiper arms up the windshield, about 4 inches or so, so that you can lift them to clean and/or change the blades. When I first tried it seemed to take way too much pressure - you are using the passenger side wiper blade to this - and I finally decided to have the dealer show me first. I figured if I was wrong and it broke...they broke it. In the end it did just like the manual said and while I still think it takes a bit more pressure then I would like to get them to move, it does work. BTW you start with the wipers in the parked position and there is no need to turn the ignition on or off to do this.
  9. lovemyES350 is correct, you can turn off the 'please say a command'. On the Nav console press 'MENU' then press on the screen 'SETUP' and then scroll to the second screen of information and press 'NO' for the 'Voice Recognition Command', then press OK. That will turn off the 'please say a command' query by the system. I just tried it and it works! Thanks for the tip lovemyES350. I'm glad to get rid of that feature.
  10. Aske I'm with you. I'd rather have the second key at home. If you both carry a key Murphy's law says both keys will be lost on the same day at the same time. For what its worth I suggest you read up on how to start the car with a dead key battery. Shouldn't happen for years to come, but you never know. I haven't taken the battery out of one of the keys to try it, but I might. I hate surprises like that. This is my first Lexus and so far I really like it. There are a few things I wish worked differently, but I think that would be the case regardless of brand. I have had the CD player replaced - it jammed with only a burned CD inserted. It was playing fine and then just quit, so I can't say it jammed, that's the term the dealer used. When the dealer found out it a burned CD he said that was the problem. He told me you can't use burned CD's in this player. I pointed out to him page 223 of the nav user's manual which says I can and that I intended to continue to use burned CDs - using high quality blanks...or at least blanks from a good brand name. I then ask the dealer where I buy MP3 and WMV formatted music CDs since the player says on the front it plays those formats. He couldn't give me an answer, so of course I then ask the logic of saying I can't use burned MP3 and WMV CDs if the only place to get them is to burn them yourself. At that point conversation was over and I'm still using burned CDs. I wonder how many CD players I'll have to replace. Having said that I'm still a very Happy User too...enjoy your 350.
  11. I can't speak for the Prius, or any other vehicle, but the Owner's manual for the ES350 clearly states that the system might act strange if a second electronic key (FOB) is detected by the system. You can find this caution, from Lexus, on page 8 of your owners manual. If you are lucky enough to have nothing happen when two keys are in the car at the same time, good for you. But I think it is worth noting, as I did in any earlier post, that if something strange is happening with your cars "smart access system" it would be nice to know what might be the cause. Use the information provided as you see fit, but it seems to me to be a bit inappropriate to state what might be the ES350 reactions based what a Prius' did or didn't do. But then again I guess if you turn the wheel left in your Prius, and it goes left, it could be argued that its fair to state that the ES350 will also go left when you turn its wheel that way.
  12. A word of caution...two FOBs (keys) in the car can confuse the car's sensor/computer. So you and the wife each carrying a key FOB might cause strange issues. Keep that in mind if you encounter something that makes no sense.
  13. I believe you will find documentation with your car, from Lexus, that says the tires on your car might not last more than 20,000 miles.
  14. And the manual says that is what you will see when the sun is behind you.
  15. Try Nevr-Dull from Eagle One. We used it on the Chrysler (sorry, didn't really want to use that word here) headlights and it did a wonderful job. I would have never thought of using this product, but when you have tried everything else, why not see what it does. It was easy, fast to put on and very effective. Now, the down side. I think, cause it hasn't been long enough for us to tell, but I think you will have to reapply it after some period of time. When likely has something to do with how often you wash the car, or it gets wet in the rain. Applying is a matter of minutes - 5 - so its not like it is a lot of work.
