  1. Bredeman Lexus in Glenview. I don't remember the size of tire they are putting on. They also said it's a one time charge, so I should be able to walk in there come spring and have my tires put back on free I think ?? Just need to pay for new tires if these go bad. Even if I order from Tirerack though, that's just the tires & wheels & sensors, fine and dandy, but I don't know how to put tires on, so I'd have to go somewhere for that. It just seems easier if they do it and store my old ones. Seems convenient even if it is a little pricey. I'm only concered with how much better traction I will get and if I will be able to commute to work (SAFELY) driving slow, but not tons slower than traffic, to get to work and back. Jeff.
  2. $2300 is outrageous for tires...unless you're getting rims too. Do it right and get Blizzaks. I talked with the tire specialists at Lexus and they said I'm getting the Nokian brand. He claims it's better for the IS 350 since it's a lighter car and says the Blizzaks are good, but they are for heavier cars and says I should get the best tire for the car (I agree). Any of you agree? The $2300 is for new tires, rims, and storage of my old tires till summer, its a one time charge, then I can go in and out in fall and spring or whenever. Jeff.
  3. Thanks for the responses so far. I am getting the idea, Get snow tires! :) I have an appointment for Saturday morning to get them purchased and installed for $2300 (ouch!). Well worth it to keep my car though. I just hope its enough traction, I don't expect to be doing 80 round corners, I do drive very cautiously in the winter, but I just want to feel like my car will stop given enough time and slow enough speed. If im going 5mph, I should be able to stop, easy as that. They said a brand of tire that wasn't blizzaks tires, it was something different but the guy said they are really good... should I trust what they put on, or demand blizzaks? One more question: I see that traction button down by my steering wheel the little picture of a car and 3 wayve lines. When I turn that on, it will eventually go off after a while, is that ok? I wasn't sure. Even when I turn it off, it still seems to turn on when I started sliding (weird, why even have a button then)
  4. Do you have a 350? Does anyone with Snow Tires and drive the 350 have any issues in the snow? I'd like to hear from those who have tried or who currently do drive. I called the dealer and of course they said it will be night and day difference and that some of their customers drive the 350 all year round, but I want to hear from people that do that. Anyone? Thanks again!!! Jeff.
  5. Also, So, people with snow tires are ok driving in the snow with the IS 350 or similar RWD cars? I have had previously a FWD with all-season tires and it worked just fine in the snow, it was a lot less powered, but I wasn't sliding when I broke (at least a majority of the time) Jeff.
  6. I have BridgeStone Turanza ER33. Are these all-season tires?
  7. Hello, I'm am on the verge of selling the best car I have ever driven, my 2007 IS 350. Here's what happened yesterday. You know when your at a red light and the car in front inches up, and then you inch up? ... well, I let go of the break, inched up, and then slid a few more inches than I wanted (I didn't hit anyone, thank god). But yesterday in the snow, my car was helpless, I did NOT feel safe at all, I was driving soooo slow and I still skidded when I was stopping. How GOOD are snow tires?? I have to drive an hour to work each day. I'm afraid to drive my lexus, so I rented a car... thinking I may sell it if I have to. What should I do? Is Snow tires good enough? Some people also said to put weights or sand bags in the back. What should I do?? I want to get a new car this weekend or snow tires, what should I do? Can anyone who drives (somewhat long distances) in the snow please respond. I am scared as hell to drive in the snow anymore with this car. HELP!? :) Thanks again Jeff.
  8. Hey guys, When does the AVG MPG Display (the little display between the mph and rpm) reset? Is this since I bought the car avg? or per trip or what? Mine has been on 22.7 for at least a month now. It hasn't moved. I drive to work the same everyday for the most part, but on the weekends I do different things, I would expect to see it change. The MPG Tank one works fine, I can see for this tank what my MPG is, but when does the AVG one reset? or does it not and that's lifetime? Thanks Jeff.
  9. Cool! No, it doesn't bother me, I like it. I was just worried that I would wear out the sensors if I left it on all the time. thanks! Jeff.
  10. Quick question, Is it good to leave the parking assist on all the time? I have and it's great for when I actually park, but while I'm driving, it seems useless and I don't know if I should turn it off and only turn it on when im about to park, any ideas? Thanks Jeff.
  11. Thanks Guys!! So far my experience has been amazing! The service is top-notch and car is just fantastic, Here are my 5 favorite things & my 5 least favorite things about the car: (in NO paticular order) 1) Navigation is fantastic - Looks great, while driving it updates fast and I'm glad its a chick voice for directions :) 2) Speed - This car is damn fast, I get off the line super quick, it feels like a rocket! 3) Luxury - I love how this car feels when I am sitting in the driver seat, soo comfy! 4) Service - They have internet & computers! I have never been to a service place like this before! 5) Sound - Sound system is awesome, I couldn't ask for anything better. My least favorite: (in NO paticular order) 1) The body style is ok, for this type of money, was hoping to stand out a little more. It's not bad though. 2) Navigation doesn't have Real-Time Traffic!!! WHY? Why o Why, this almost made me choose a different car. 3) The wheels are a bit loud, driving certain surfaces I can really hear the wheels on the road, again, not a huge thing, but I may have to switch tires at some point. 4) Heated/Cooled seats are barely noticable. I was hoping for a better quality heated/cooled seats. 5) Back seats are a little cramped, however, I find it I can still drive 3-4 people around and it's not too bad. I mainly drive me so it's not a huge issue. Anyone thinking about this car vs bmw or vs anything. You will NOT be disapointed. I love my car, no car will be 100% perfect. This car is amazing though!! That's it, let me know what you think. Jeff.
  12. I picked it up about a month ago, I love the car so far!!! It's super fast, it looks great, and I enjoy driving it everyday! The only bad thing is my co-workers keep asking if I think I'm better than they are because I own a lexus :) I just say yes, haha. In order to find the color I wanted I went to a dealership near me and they didnt' have my colors I wanted (Black ext, Beige int). They said they could do a dealer search, but that would be a 1k up front cost that would go towards the car if they find it, if they don't find it, it would go towards the order of a new one.... but I don't get that back if they don't find it and I didn't want to order it. So, I did the search myself and called like 8 different lexus places and found one that had what I was looking for and picked it up. I was a little upset they wouldn't just do the search for free or give me back my money if they didn't find it. Oh well, I'm happy now :)
  13. Thanks guys so far for your help. I am going tommorrow and see what cleaning supplies a local napa has, or maybe I'll try another auto place. I'd rather not order, but if I dont get anything this weekend, I will order stuff for next weekends cleaning :) By the way, you said I have pretty hard water, what do you mean by that? I get water from the hose, and I put that on spray so it's not full blasting on the car. If that's what you meant. Also, I know I might be leaving water behind with the chamois wipes, I will DEFINATELY get a microfiber waffle weave towel, If nothing else, that will help dry this thing much better. One more question, what about the windows, is there a special way to clean the outside OR inside of the windows? I just use the same soap on the panels on the windows, is there any special window cleaner I can get? thanks Jeff.
  14. Wash mitt? I am using a big soft sponge to basically apply the soap, I use a mitt only to wash the rims which work good. Should I use a mitt to apply the soap? Also, what about drying, is there anything other than a shami I could use, cause I just can't seem to figure out how they work, because it just seems to spread the water not really dry the car. thanks! Jeff.
  15. Hello!! Let me tell you what I have done for the past two and only washes on my car. I purchased some car soap basically, mixes with water. 1) I rinse the car from top to bottom, everywhere. 2) I start at the top of the car and soap the top 3) I then proceed to soap the hood, door panels, and back. 4) I last do the front & back bumpers At this point, I proceed to rinse the car again and make sure I have rinsed everything. Lastly, I take my shami and dry off the car with any spots of water I see. My questions are: 1) Am I doing this horribly wrong?? 2) I notice I still see spots on my car after the drying, how can I dry this properly? 3) (maybe associated with 2) but, I can never get my shami super dry, I ring it out like crazy, but when I wipe it on the car, it still leaves water, I got to the point where its pretty dry, but damn, I dunno. 4) My windows are bad with the water spots too. Anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for some help, my car gets sorda clean, at least all the visible dirt is gone, but I see water spots if I look really close. One problem, I'm only 1 person, so by the time I rinse the car, and dry one area, I go to the next and the water's already gone!! This is my first attempts at washing cars, I have never done it before so any suggestions will help, maybe more shami's, maybe different drying materials, maybe I'm washing wrong. Thanks for any help! Jeff.
  16. Phew! I was a little worried, Condensation does sound correct, I couldn't imagine having leaks already... but that totally makes sense, I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse, but right now its not much. Thanks again! Jeff.
  17. Thanks for the info. Cool!! I was soo worried to press on the gas a bit harder :) Even without pressing on the gas hard this thing flies!! Thanks Jeff. PS, I'll post pictures soon :)
  18. Hey I also have another question. I noticed in my garage where I park my IS 350, there was a green substance on the ground, not much, of what looks like the antifreeze, just curious if I should be concerned? Has anyone else noticed this? I do run the air a lot since I'm trying to keep the car smelling new :) Not sure if that would cause that. I just had it in for the 1k mile checkup and forgot to mention it, however, they didn't say anything was wrong at the checkup. Though, I wish I would have had them check that out. Should I bring it in again? My guess is at my next oil change I'll have them look at it unless it gets worse or you guys say I should have them look at it ASAP. Jeff.
  19. I have a new IS 350 and have a few questions as this is the first car I ever owned that is super fast :) Speed off the line: 1) I don't want to hurt my lexus IS 350 :) Should I not punch it? If I do, is there anything to be careful of? Will the car redline if I don't watch it? Will that destroy the engine? Semi-manual: 1) I noticed in automatic mode, the car will shift in different spots in RPM depending on my speed, if I'm accelerating slowly it will get up to 6th gear at around 40 MPH. If I put it in sem-manual and leave it in 4th gear, the RPM's are a little over 2k at 40 or so (give or take a few). My question is, is it better to leave it in a lower gear like that or is it worse? I would think I would get better acceleration from 40 up to 60 if I left it in 4th then shift over 3k-4k, but I don't know if thats good or bad for the car. I currently am treating the new car like my baby until I find out a bit more of what I can do that won't hurt (damage) the car in anyway. Let me know your thoughts Thanks!! Jeff.
  20. That could be it! I'm no mechanic, but it does sound like its running fans or something, it is noticably louder though, almost like high fans which could be cooling fans :) Thanks Jeff.
  21. Hey guys, I am noticing sometimes when the car is sitting at a red light its nice and quite and then (it seems) for no aparant reason the engine gets louder for a bit... then again goes back to its normal quite self. Is that normal? What is the car doing? The air is off, everything I can see is off but it still gets louder periodically. Any ideas? Jeff.
  22. Hello, I just got a new IS 350 (its obsidian black). Looks fantastic. I'm not sure if the dealer waxed it, but I think they did before I got it. I just got a couple days ago and even now I see some dirt and I see some break dust. I'll probably wait until next weekend because I want to figure out how to do this correctly before I just ruin my paint. I am a complete noob. I have NEVER washed a car in my life.... only because I have never owned one that was good enough for hand washing. I plan on using like I have read just soap and water... then rinsing it with just plain water. 1) Is that ok? 2) Is that good enough to wash it? 3) What soap should I use? 4) Should both the soapy water & rinse water be hot? 5) Is it ok to get the car washed at the dealer if I wanted to? (Only cause I get free washes anytime I want there) The washing should get me by for a good 3-4 weeks (once a week). Then I will start the long process of how to get it really cleaned which looks extrememly complicated!! I have never heard of all those materials, how to use them. but, I do want to learn. Sorry for the ridiculous questions. Jeff.
  23. bartkat, I just picked up my IS 350 a couple days ago and was told my first service should be at 1000 miles, then oil changes at 5k intervals, but he said sooner is ok too. I will probably do it at 4k, but that's just me. I don't know if your guy told you first service at 1k or not, but I'm doing what my sales guy tells me to do :) Jeff.
  24. Hello, I just bought a new Lexus IS 350 2007. This car is amazing!! I love it by the way :) Anywhoo, here's my questions: 1) What type of gas do I put in this thing? Premium? 2) Does anyone break in the engine, I was told from my sales guy that I don't need to. I just want to make sure. 3) Is anyone familiar with how this car will perform in winter, I live in IL so its sorda important. I was either going to get snow tires (2k) or even better, I was thinking of renting a truck for 2 months for about (1.5k for 2 months). That may be a better use of my money as it will reduce my miles on the car. Any thoughts? Thanks Jeff.
